Chapter 75.1 – Extra 9

After they finished their breakfast, Bai Xingfan took his daughter to kindergarten while Su Yan headed off with their son to an early education class. 

There was an activity at the kindergarten that required parents’ participation. As Bai Xingfan was busy in the afternoon he couldn’t participate in it. So Su Yan left her son at home with the housekeeping aunt and went to check out her daughter’s event. 

It wasn’t exactly a performance, though. It was more of a friendly competition for little kids set up by two kindergartens. Participation wasn’t mandatory; kids could sign up if they wanted to compete. 

The competition involved splitting the kids into two teams for some fun training exercises. The team that showed better coordination and scored more points would win. 

Su Yan noticed a water gun contest on the flyer and quickly signed up Bai Qiqi, hoping to help her conquer the kindergarten scene. 

Bai Qiqi, the little queen, absolutely loved the activity and had a blast all afternoon. 

But when she got home, she surprised everyone with an unexpected decision. She turned to Bai Shiwu, patted him on the shoulder, and said seriously, “Shiwu, I’ve decided I’m not going to be the best in kindergarten anymore. You should chase that dream instead.” 

Bai Shiwu looked puzzled and replied, “Sister, I haven’t even started kindergarten yet.” 

Bai Qiqi responded, “You’ll be going soon.” 

Bai Shiwu blinked and asked, “Sister, why don’t you want to be a little bully anymore?” 

Bai Qiqi replied, “Because I’ve got a crush on a little boy!” 

Su Yan found herself torn between laughter and sympathy, wondering how her husband would react if he found out the real reason behind Bai Qiqi’s sudden change of heart.

At seven in the evening, Bai Xingfan returned home from work, carrying some cakes he had picked up for his two kids. 

Bai Qiqi dashed over to him, bubbling with excitement. “Dad! I’ve got some awesome news to share!” 

Bai Xingfan, changing his shoes, smiled and asked, “What’s the news?” 

With a huge grin, Bai Qiqi exclaimed, “I have a boyfriend!” 

Bai Xingfan froze, nearly dropping the cakes. “What?” 

Behind the little girl, Su Yan was laughing uncontrollably. 

Bai Qiqi still didn’t realise her father’s mood had changed, and she continued, “We had the Little Friends Competition today, and I was teamed up with this super cute boy. During the water gunfight, someone hit me with a water balloon, and he kept blocking them for me! He got soaked, but he was amazing and helped us win. I really like him and want him to be my boyfriend!” 

Bai Xingfan: “…” 

Su Yan noticed her husband’s face turning a shade of blue. 

Taking a deep breath, Bai Xingfan tried to keep acting cool. “No, you’re too young for a boyfriend.” 

Bai Qiqi replied confidently, “Sure I can!” 

Bai Xingfan insisted, “No.” 

Bai Qiqi shot back, “Sure, just wait until the little brother agrees.” 

Su Yan nearly burst out laughing. 

Bai Xingfan chuckled too. “So, little brother hasn’t given his okay yet?” 

Bai Qiqi nodded, “I asked him today if he wanted to be my boyfriend, and he said he’d think about it.”

Bai Xingfan scoffed, “Is he still thinking it over? He really doesn’t know how to value what he has.”  

Bai Qiqi chimed in, “Exactly! I was ready to give up my title as kindergarten bully for him, and he’s still on the fence. He clearly doesn’t get it.”  

Su Yan just shook her head.  ‘This father-daughter duo is something else.’

Bai Xingfan crouched down to his daughter’s level and said seriously, “Qiqi, listen up. A guy who makes you wait isn’t worth your time.”  

Bai Qiqi asked, “Why not?”  

Bai Xingfan replied, “Because waiting is exhausting and can make you really sad, and I don’t want that for you.”  

Bai Qiqi frowned, and muttered, “But I really like him.”  

Bai Xingfan sighed and called over his son. “Shiwu, come here.”  

Bai Shiwu came over with his toy car.  

Bai Xingfan asked, “Shiwu if you really like a girl, would you say you need to think about it before being friends?”  

Bai Shiwu answered, “No way! I’d say yes right away.”  

Bai Xingfan smiled at his son’s response and turned to his daughter. “Did you catch that?”  

Bai Qiqi’s eyes filled with tears, and she asked with a chock, “So, little brother doesn’t like me?”  

Bai Xingfan didn’t hold back. “Yep, he doesn’t like you at all.”  

Bai Qiqi was crushed and cried. “Dad, I feel heartbroken!”  

Su Yan just sighed.  

Bai Xingfan was at a loss for words.  

Bai Shiwu, after a moment of silence, gently pointed out, and said loudly, “Sister, that’s not a broken heart since he never agreed to be friends with you.”  

Su Yan sighed again. ‘Son, aren’t you just making things worse for others?’

As expected, Bai Qiqi started crying even more.  

Bai Xingfan gently patted his daughter’s head and coaxed the little girl with a broken heart. “Qiqi, forget about your boyfriend for now and just focus on ruling the kindergarten.”  

Bai Qiqi nodded through her tears, saying, “I think that’s a great idea. At least I don’t need to ask for his consent before I fight with the bighead fish snacks. It’s much easier than finding a boyfriend.”

Bai Xingfan replied, “Exactly. I’d rather let the world down than let it bring me down.”  

Bai Qiqi agreed. “Yes!”  

Bai Shiwu chimed in, “Sis, don’t cry. Maybe that little guy doesn’t like you yet because you haven’t taken charge of the kindergarten. Once you do, who cares if he likes you? You’re the big sister, so you get to decide if he likes you or not!”  

Bai Qiqi exclaimed, “Yes! I want to rule the kindergarten!”  

Su Yan just sighed, while thinking. ‘It’s really dangerous to become a family with you three people with the surname Bai!’
