That night, after getting the kids settled in bed, Bai Xingfan said, “Cheng Jiheng’s in the hospital. We should go see him tomorrow.”  

Su Yan was caught off guard and looked at her husband with shock. “What? Why’s he in the hospital?”  

Bai Xingfan answered, “He got stabbed.”  

Su Yan’s eyes went wide upon hearing those words. “Wait, what?”  

Bai Xingfan chuckled, and asked, “Surprised?”  

Su Yan shot back, “Of course! Who just gets stabbed out of the blue?”  

“He has a three-year-old daughter.”  He just revealed another important piece of information. 

Su Yan was left speechless.  ‘What?’

Bai Xingfan added, “The girl’s mom was his saviour in Yunshan.”  

Su Yan was at a loss for words.  

After a moment, she finally exploded. “Isn’t that just repaying kindness with betrayal? What a jerk! Cheng Jiheng is such a scumbag! He totally deserves to be stabbed!”  

Bai Xingfan nodded in agreement. “I think so too.”  

Su Yan shot Bai Xingfan a glare and scolded the poor man. “You three are all terrible people!” Then she turned and stormed off, fuming. “You can sleep in the guest room tonight; I don’t want to deal with you!”  

Bai Xingfan: “…”

Once Su Yan got back to her room, she slammed the door and jumped onto her bed. She still couldn’t believe what her husband said just a moment ago. After pondering for a few seconds, she sent a WeChat message to Chen Zhiyu.”Have you heard about Cheng Jiheng?”  

Chen Zhiyu: “Yeah. The child is a little girl.”  

Su Yan: “What a scumbag! Cheng Jiheng is such a loser! He just did the wrong thing and ran away, leaving that poor woman to raise a child alone!”

Chen Zhiyu: “Totally, what a scumbag!”  

Su Yan: “I don’t even want to visit him in the hospital! But I do want to see that girl.”

“Little Niuniu is so cute! So soft and lovable,”  Chen Zhiyu exclaimed.

Su Yan: “Have you seen her?”  

Chen Zhiyu: “Yeah. And my husband and I want to find a beautiful girl for our son.

Su Yan stared at her phone for a few seconds and suddenly got it—clever people had already begun to look into their daughters-in-law while she was still stressing over little things!  

After taking a moment to breathe, she replied, “I’ll take Qiqi and Shiwu to check her out tomorrow. Shiwu loves playing with little girls.”  

Chen Zhiyu: “Oh.”  

The once lovely sisterly bond suddenly felt a bit off.  

That night, Su Yan was wide awake, tossing and turning in bed. All she could think about was the heartbreaking image of “the Cheng girl and the Ji boy as childhood sweethearts while her son sat alone, watching them grow up together.”

She suddenly went to the guest room and woke up her husband. “We can’t let him be single right?”  

Bai Xingfan looked puzzled. “What?”  

Su Yan insisted. “We need to make arrangements for our son, right?”

Bai Xingfan: “Make arrangements for what?”  

Su Yan replied, “I lost to Chen Buzui.”  

Bai Xingfan was torn between laughter and frustration. “How old is Chen Buzui and how old are you?”  

Su Yan worriedly said, “What if Shiwu doesn’t understand?”  

Bai Xingfan confidently responded, “That’s not going to happen.”  

Su Yan: “You really believe in him?”  

Bai Xingfan replied, “Of course, he’s my son.”  

Su Yan was left speechless.
