Yan Yan - Chapter 77.2

Chapter 77.2 – Extra 11 – End
Two
Bai Qiqi usually spent her winter and summer breaks hanging out with her uncles. In her short two years of life, the phrase she heard most from them was, “Check out how ugly your uncle is. You better not grow up to look like him, or you’re in trouble and might never get married. No boy will ever like you.”
Little Bai Qiqi took her two uncles’ words to heart.
One August day, her parents dropped her off at her grandma’s place. She loved hanging out with her uncle and would follow him around, even when he was gaming.
After finishing a game, Bai Xinglan popped open a bottle of soda and shook it towards Bai Qiqi, who was on the floor playing with dolls. “Hey Qiqi, want some Coke?”
Bai Qiqi jumped up excitedly, and exclaimed, “Yes, please!”
Her parents didn’t allow her to have Coke, but her uncles and aunts sneaked her some, along with all the snacks her mom forbade, which was why she enjoyed spending time with them.
Her uncle only let her have a couple of sips, but that was more than enough to make her happy! While she was sipping from the bottle, Bai Xinglan smiled at her and said, “You kinda look like your Uncle Zhan.”
Bai Qiqi was taken aback.
A few days back, his Uncle Zhan mentioned that she kinda looks like his Uncle Xingfan.
While playing a computer game, someone called out to him to play a match, and Bai Xinglan jumped back into the action, after reminding Bai Qiqi. “Don’t drink too much.”
Bai Qiqi, clutching her Coke bottle with a sad look, glanced at her uncle’s back and felt her eyes welling up. She didn’t want to drink it anymore, so she put the bottle down and dashed out of the room to head downstairs.
Her great-grandfather was busy making tea in the living room. She rushed over, feeling upset, and called out, “Great grandfather.”
Mr. Bai immediately set the teapot aside, looking concerned. “What’s wrong, Qiqi?” he asked.
Bai Qiqi pouted and asked, “Do I look like Uncle Zhan?” Mr. Bai replied,
“A little bit.” She pressed on, “Do I look like my Uncle Xinglan?”
Mr. Bai repeated, “A little bit.”
That made her eyes even redder, and before she knew it, she was in tears.
Mr. Bai panicked and scooped her up, asking, “What’s the matter, Qiqi? Why are you crying?”
Through her sobs, she managed to say, “I don’t want to be like them!”
Mr. Bai was puzzled. “Why not?”
Bai Qiqi hiccupped and replied, “Because they’re both ugly.”
Mr. Bai was left speechless.
Three
On the weekend, Su Yan invited Chen Zhiyu and Tao Tao over, and they brought their kids along.
Finally, the little tyrant Bai Qiqi had something to do! She set up a blackboard and lined up Bai Shiwu, Little Milk Cake, and Chen Buzui, who had just started crawling.
Bai Qiqi stood in front of the blackboard, looking all serious with her black-framed glasses perched on her nose, even though they had no lenses. Teacher Bai Qiqi repeated the same question. “Who knows what one plus one is?”
Little Milk Cake raised her hand up.
Bai Shiwu quickly chimed in. “It’s two!”
Meanwhile, Chen Buzui, still a toddler, was just looking around, probably clueless about what was going on.
Bai Shiwu thought he’d get praised, but instead, Teacher Bai hit him with the ruler. “Student Bai Shiwu will be punished once!”
Bai Shiwu felt totally wrong. “But my answer is right!”
Bai Qiqi, didn’t explain it to Student Bai, instead, she asked, “Who can tell me why Bai Shiwu got punished?”
There were only Chen Buzui and Little Milk Cake in the class except for Bai Shiwu. Chen Buzui, being a little too young for this class, couldn’t answer, so it was all on the little girl.
Luckily, Little Milk Cake was sharp and replied, “Because he didn’t raise his hand before answering. You have to raise your hand in class!”
Teacher Bai smiled, and said, “Great job! Let’s give a clap for our Little Milk Cake!”
Little Milk Cake beamed with joy.
Bai Shiwu still looked a bit aggressive, but Teacher Bai knew how to handle it. “Bai Shiwu, do you have any complaints?”
Bai Shiwu was fuming but didn’t dare to speak up. “No.”
Teacher Bai continued, “If not, how about you give a round of applause to the students who did well?”
Bai Shiwu was at a loss for words but still clapped enthusiastically for Little Milk cake, genuinely saying, “Little Milk Cake, you’re amazing!”
Teacher Bai was feeling pleased and continued with the lesson. “Who can tell me what two plus two is?”
This time, Bai Shiwu learned from his previous experience and raised his hand along with Little Milk Cake.
Meanwhile, little Chen Bushui, with a pacifier in his mouth, still looked puzzled by the question. But he raised his hand like the older kids.
Just as Teacher Bai was about to call on someone, Su Yan walked into the playroom, saying, “Time for some fruit! We’ve got cakes and cookies too!”
Bai Shiwu and Little Milk Cake stayed put, eagerly watching Teacher Bai, not daring to move until class was officially over.
Unable to resist the allure of the treats, Teacher Bai finally waved her hand and announced, “Class dismissed!”
Bai Shiwu and Little Milk Cake cheered. “Yay!”
The three little ones dashed off, leaving Chen Bushui crawling behind them.
Su Yan picked up Chen Bushui from the floor and said, “Oh, you poor thing, you can’t have any yet!”
Little Chen Bushui looked really sad.
Then, Su Yan took him to the living room to join the moms’ chat.
A little while later, Bai Shiwu came running back with a cookie. “Teacher Bai said we should never forget our classmates and always share the good times.” He offered the cookie to Chen Bushui, who was being held by Chen Zhiyu.
But little Chen Bushui turned his head away, refusing the treat.
Bai Shiwu scratched his head, puzzled. “Why don’t you want it?”
Chen Bushui: “…”
“Should I tell my sister to bring the cookies?” Bai Shiwu asked after looking at the little boy.
Chen Buzui finally gave a nod.
Bai Shiwu raised an eyebrow and asked, “You don’t like my sister, do you?”
Chen Buzui nodded again.
Bai Shiwu continued, “So, do you like Little Milk Cake?”
Chen Buzui nodded once more.
Bai Shiwu replied, “That can’t be. I like Little Milk Cake too, so you can’t like her. As for my sister, feel free to like her, but I don’t think she’ll like you back since her goal is to rule the elementary school, and you’re not her type.”
Su Yan thought, “Wow, kid, could you be a bit more subtle?”
After saying this, Bai Shiwu dashed off without a care for the little one’s feelings.
After watching Bai Shiwu leave, little Chen Buzui felt heartbroken and started crying. His pacifier dropped to the floor with a “pop,” and he looked utterly miserable.
Bai Shiwu didn’t notice any of this. Once he got back to the dining room, he told Teacher Bai, “Chen Buzui doesn’t want cookies.”
Teacher Bai replied, “Then you eat them.”
Bai Shiwu exclaimed, “Sure!”
But instead of eating them all himself, he broke a cookie in half and shared it with the Little Milk Cake.
While munching on the cookies, Little Milk Cake asked curiously, “Hey, Brother Baibai, why doesn’t Chen Buzui want any cookies?”
Bai Shiwu shrugged. “I dunno, maybe he hasn’t got any teeth yet.”
Bai Qiqi frowned at this. “So, does that mean he didn’t get anything from my lecture at all?”
Bai Shiwu: “I think so.”
Little Milk Cake: “What should you do?”
Bai Qiqi thought for a second and let out a sigh before replying, “You know what? I can’t just let any student fall behind. How about this: you two take the test later today, and I will teach him alone.”
Bai Shiwu: “…”
Little Milk Cake: “…”
Oh no, neither of them were up for the test.
Chen Buzui: “…”
‘Help, I don’t want to take a class alone.’
