Outside the senior high school teaching area, Mr. Li and Mrs. Li were still holding Lu Rongxing’s hand eagerly to reminisce with him. The three adults did not notice at all the two people standing beside them holding hands.

Li Xining held Lu Yuling’s hand because she felt bad for him.

Lu Yuling couldn’t move his right arm, which was especially stiff, like it had turned to stone. Her hands were gentle and smooth.

Suddenly, the phone in her school uniform pocket made a noise. Li Xining quickly realised what she was doing, and she let go of Lu Yuling’s hand. She then looked at her phone and saw that it was her mom calling.

She wanted to tell her mom what was happening, but she couldn’t say it in front of Lu Yuling, so she walked away with her phone.

Lu Yuling watched her walk away and felt a little sad and lonely.

When Li Xining picked up the phone, her mother asked, “Hey, sweetie, where are you and your grandparents right now?”

“Mom, you probably wouldn’t believe that my grandparents are actually friends with Lu Yuling’s uncle, and they are still talking.”

Yu Wenyin was also shocked and asked, “Who is his uncle? How do your grandparents know him?”

Li Xining remembered the uncle’s name, and she mentioned that his uncle’s name was Lu Rongxing and his mother’s name was Lu Rongyue. “Actually, my grandparents care the most about Lu Yuling’s mother, but she is no longer alive. My grandparents felt really sad when they heard about it just now.”

Yu Wenyin was surprised for a moment and asked, “Who? Lu Rongyue?”

Li Xining: “Yes, it’s Lu Rongyue.” She thought for a while and asked again, “Have you met her before?”

“No. But your father had. The rich lady that your grandparents introduced to your father is her.” Yu Wenyin’s tone was inexplicably a little jealous.

Li Xining was surprised. “She is that rich lady?”

Li Xining just couldn’t find the right words to express how she was feeling. She didn’t say anything for a moment, then let out a sigh. “This world is really small.”

“Isn’t it amazing? The world is so small, and you ended up with her son,” Yu Wenyin exclaimed. “He is the son of my love rival, and I want to be a vicious mother-in-law.”

Li Xining was worried and nervous. “Ms. Yu Wenyin, do you still behave like a mother?”

Yu Wenyin made a cold snorting sound and said, “You don’t understand; this is how a regular woman thinks. You can’t be with her son in the future. I will keep you in a locked place, not letting you go to school, and then make you meet a rich and good-looking man, making you surrender, just like on TV.”

Li Xining was left without words. She thought to tell her mother that she should consider becoming a writer for movies or TV shows. But before she could respond, her mother showed up at the door of the senior high school and told her to end the call.

After she finished the phone call, Li Xining quickly ran to look for her mother.

When Yu Wenyin saw her husband’s parents, she walked towards them. After Li Xining ran to her, she pointed at the man in a suit and leather shoes and asked, “Is that Lu Yuling’s uncle?”

Li Xining said yes.

Yu Wenyin saw the man from far away and realised that he was familiar. Then she remembered his name: Lu Rongxing. He was the boss of the Lu Group and the new partner for Haixing Real Estate’s project.

“I know him. We met at the beginning of this year to develop a new healthy and livable city project in the northern suburbs. Lu Group is our largest investor.” After saying this, Yu Wenyin added, “Then I changed my mind again. You can be friendly with his nephew; it’s okay to sacrifice your daughter’s love for money; you two are in love anyway.”

Li Xining took a big breath and looked angrily at her mother. “I’m only eighteen years old.”

Yu Wenyin said, “You are already eighteen years old. It’s time to assist your mom in solving her issues. I have taken care of you for a few more years.”

Li Xining was silent and glared at her mother. “Did you pick me up from a trash can?”

Yu Wenyin smiled and gently pinched her daughter’s cheek. She said, “I’m just joking. Do you really think you were found in the trash?”

Li Xining was annoyed. “I almost took it seriously!”

Yu Wenyin: “How could you be picked up from the trash can? If that’s the case, why didn’t I pick up someone smarter and go home?”

Li Xining: “Mom! Let’s break up our relationship.”

Yu Wenyin walked behind her daughter and smiled. As she got closer to her husband’s parents, she called them “Dad” and “Mom.”

Mr. Li and Mrs. Li quickly introduced Lu Rongxing to Yu Wenyin. “This is Wenyin, our daughter-in-law, the boss of Haixing. You two should know each other, right?”

Lu Rongxing nodded and shook hands with Yu Wenyin, saying, “Yes, Ms. Yu, it’s nice to meet you.”

Yu Wenyin and Lu Rongxing greeted each other by shaking hands and saying hello.

The parent-teacher meeting had ended, and the two parties had almost finished reminiscing about old times. Mr. Li said to Lu Rongxing, “Let’s not talk today. We have to take Xiaoyao home. You go home and tell your parents that I’ll go see them in two days.”

“Alright, Uncle Li and Aunt Li, I’m going to go now.” After saying that, Lu Rongxing waved to Lu Yuling, “Lingzi, come here and say goodbye to the grandparents.”

Lu Yuling quickly went over and politely said goodbye to the two old people by calling them grandma and grandpa.

Mr.Li quickly said, “Okay, bye. If you have trouble with your studies, come to us for help. Our child is very good at learning. She understands everything, so you can ask her. If she doesn’t tell you, you tell me, and I will scold her.”

Li Xining said, “…”

Lu Yuling smiled and said, “Sure.”
