Chapter 29.1
Finally, they decided to go to Lu Yuling’s house for lunch for two reasons: one was that the cake shop was close to his house, and the other was that Li Xining didn’t bring her house key.
So they decided to go to a supermarket to buy ingredients to prepare lunch before going to the cake shop.
However, the moment Li Xining heard that Lu Yuling was going to make lunch, she was shocked and looked at Princess Lu with wide eyes because she didn’t know how to cook. Not even that; she had never touched water to prepare even a simple meal before. “You are going to cook?”
Lu Yuling: “Yes, if I don’t cook, what will you eat?”
Previously, Li Xining thought that he would order food or go out to eat, but it seemed she was wrong. ‘Is he going to cook for me? Oh my god! Isn’t this too virtuous?’ Li Xining still couldn’t believe that Princess Lu could cook. “Okay, but can you still cook?”
Lu Yuling chuckled and said arrogantly, “There are very few handsome men in the world like me who can work both in the hall and the kitchen.”
‘This man! Hmph… too arrogant!’’ Li Xining stretched out her hand and pinched his arm.
“Hiss!” Lu Yuling immediately covered his arm. “You pinched me again!”
Li Xining said confidently, “What’s wrong with me pinching you? I’ll pinch you if I want.”
Lu Yuling: “Okay, since you’re going to show me this attitude today, I won’t give you food at noon!”
Li Xining snorted and did not answer.
After Lu Yuling locked the bicycle, he took his “son” from Li Xining and carried the guitar on his back, and then the two of them walked towards the supermarket gate together.
On the way, Li Xining couldn’t resist her curiosity and asked, “From whom did you learn to cook?”
Lu Yuling replied softly, “From my mother.”
His thoughts went back to years ago when he was a kid. Back then, when his mother was alive, his grandparents didn’t let the mother and son visit them during the Chinese New Year, and at that time, seeing his mother’s tears, he said he would wait until he found a wife so they could stop visiting their grandparents, and he would tell his wife to cook for his mother. However, his mother said that his wife should be loved, not just used for cooking.
The little boy was very amazed by his mother’s words. He told her that he always remembered this sentence in his heart: wives should be loved, and men should cook. Later, he learned to cook from his mother so he could make his future wife happy.
The first time he learned to cook was when he was just over seven years old.
First, his mom taught him to make scrambled eggs. As per his mother’s instructions, he put two eggs in a bowl, mixed them with chopsticks, heated a pan with oil, and poured the eggs into the pan. The little boy got scared when he saw the hot oil splattering, so he dropped the spatula and hid behind his mom.
His mother laughed at him because he was scared of scrambled eggs.
The little boy said with a pout, “The eggs flew away.”
In reality, it was just a small amount of egg liquid that splashed out.
However, after that, he made scrambled eggs with his mother’s help and did it well. Afterwards, he also learned how to make home-cooked meals from his mother, like fried eggs with tomatoes, spicy and sour potato shreds, and fried diced chicken with hot peppers.
The more he cooked, the braver he got. As he grew up, he went from a confused little boy to a braver one and also became a decent cook.
Even after his mother died, he didn’t want to live with his grandparents, so he lived on his own. Living by himself means he has to figure out how to look after himself, so being able to prepare some simple meals became handy.
After Li Xining heard this, she couldn’t help but say, “You are really great. You can also play the guitar.”
‘I know how to play the piano, and I can also cook. I am good at both the living room and the kitchen.’
She didn’t often praise him, so Lu Yuling looked unhappy and said, “Are you just figuring out now that I’m really strong? Isn’t that obvious? Shouldn’t I be the best in the world to you?”
Li Xining recently found out that Princess Lu didn’t have any good qualities. He liked to fight, had yellow hair, didn’t do his homework or exams, and got the lowest score in the class. Apart from being handsome and having a nice body, there was nothing special to notice about him, even if you looked closely. So she couldn’t believe Princess Lu had such virtues. “I didn’t know before.”
Lu Yuling: “Do you understand now?”
Li Xining: “I understand.”
Lu Yuling climbed up the pole and asked, “Who do you think is better, me or Chen Lin?”
Li Xining felt frustrated and angry.
“Do you still think he’s better than me? Can’t you just say I’m great?” Princess Lu didn’t want to give up.
Li Xining said angrily with a laugh, “Why are you bothering me so much?”
Princess Lu: “Why am I bothering you? I just want you to give me an answer. Please, answer my question again.”
Li Xining: “Wow. You are great; you are the best. You are taller, more handsome, more talented, and more interesting than him, okay? Then I want to eat the Manchu-Han banquet.”
[Tl:- The Manchu-Han Banquet, which dates back to the Qing Dynasty, is the ideal fusion of flavour, appearance, and nutrition in food.
The feast of today includes traditional meals from the Manchu and Han ethnic groups, as well as foods from the north and south. It is not possible to eat all 200 meals at once due to the large selection.]
Lu Yuling was silent for a moment. “…you can eat me.”
“I won’t eat you.” Li Xining turned around and left. “I’m afraid that after eating you, I fell 800 places in the monthly exam.”
Lu Yuling: “……………………”
Have a nice day!
