Chapter 30.4

When Li Xining took her phone from her pocket, she saw that it was Chen Lin. She suddenly got scared because she was worried that Princess Lu would find out and make a fuss.

But she couldn’t hang up the phone because Chen Lin usually called or messaged to inform her about the class work.

She went outside to the balcony from the living room, closed the balcony door, and said, “Hello.”.

Chen Lin’s soft voice came through the other side. “Can you meet me this afternoon?”

Li Xining wanted to know if something was happening in the class.

Chen Lin said, “Tomorrow we have a test at school, and they need help setting up the exam room. Lao Zhou told me to find some people to help.”

Li Xining didn’t usually say no to doing class work, but today was her birthday and she wanted to be with Lu Yuling, so she didn’t agree to do the work. “I’m having a birthday party outside today, and all my family and friends are here. It can’t be changed.”

Chen Lin was surprised and asked, “Is today your birthday?”

Li Xining said, “Yes.”

Chen Lin said, “Happy 18th birthday.”

Li Xining: “Thanks; I’m going to end the call now. Is there anything else I can help with?”

“Bye, it’s okay. I’ll see you again tomorrow,” Chen Lin ended the call.

“Bye,” Li Xining said. “I will speak to you again tomorrow.” Just as she was going to leave the balcony, her phone rang again. This time, it was Xu Dongruo.

As soon as the phone rang, before she could speak, Xu Dongruo started asking many questions. He said, “Where are you? Who are you having a party with? With Lu Yuling? Didn’t you two agree to study at home?”

At midnight, Xu Dongruo called her, wished her a happy birthday, and asked what she would do tomorrow.

Li Xining said she didn’t have anything special to do, and her only plan was to stay home and watch over Princess Lu’s studies.

However, the plan couldn’t adapt to the change because he took her out to celebrate her birthday today.

Xu Dongruo seemed concerned and asked, “Where are you two?”

Li Xining said, “I forgot my key.” Then she smiled. “He took me to the bar and sang for me today. He said he did it to celebrate my birthday. And he also bought me a cake for my birthday.”

Xu Dongruo didn’t respond after hearing this. After a while, she stopped being grumpy and said, “You can have your birthday party first, and then we can talk about something later. Please call me when you get home in the evening.”

Li Xining was interested and asked, “What happened?”

Xu Dongruo said, “It’s nothing, just some silly people without parents trying to impress others. It’s not a problem. We can talk about it later tonight. You have your birthday party before everyone else. It’s really important to have fun when you’re eighteen.”

Li Xining didn’t put a lot of effort into thinking about it, so she just replied to her friend. “I will call you when I am home.”
