Chapter 31.4
The four elders had finished their lunch and sat down in the living room to drink some tea.
Mr. and Mrs. Li and Mr. and Mrs. Lu met each other after a long time, and Mr. and Mrs. Li couldn’t ask about Lu Yuling’s matters too impulsively.
The old man Lu and his wife didn’t like to talk about their family problems with others, so it was best to bring up the topic only after they felt comfortable and close to their old friends again.
Mr. Li was about to start talking about something, but then his cell phone rang out of nowhere. He saw that it was his granddaughter. He quickly picked up the phone and asked, “Xiaoyao, what’s the matter?”
Li Xining asked his grandfather when he and her grandma would go home.
“It’ll take some time. We haven’t finished talking yet. What’s wrong with you? Is something wrong?” Old Mr. Li asked with concern.
Li Xining sighed. “I’m going out to play. I didn’t bring the key with me.”
Mr. Li was a little worried. “Then where are you now?”
Li Xining did not hide anything and told the truth. “I am at Lu Yuling’s house. He usually lives alone, so he brought me back to his house.”
Mr. Li felt relieved, and he knew that the two children would not do anything extraordinary, so he replied, “How about you wait at his place for a while, and Grandma and I will pick you up?”
Li Xining replied, “Okay.”
“What’s wrong with your granddaughter?” Mr. Lu asked after Mr. Li hung up the phone.
“Nothing.” Mr. Li changed the topic. “By the way, why does Yu Ling usually live alone?”
Before Mr. Lu could speak, Mrs. Lu sighed and complained, “Forget it, that white-eyed wolf; he is not well-raised.”
Mr. Lu glared at her and warned her not to gossip.
Mrs. Lu was unconvinced and continued to complain. “Did I say something wrong? We gave him food, drinks, and money to spend, but as a result, he just doesn’t remember our good deeds and doesn’t even want to come back home. He just doesn’t want to see us two old guys! If he hadn’t been born by Rongyue, I would have kicked him out long ago.”
Hearing those harsh words, Mr. and Mrs. Li glanced at each other.
“He is just a child, and he is in the rebellious stage now, so don’t argue with him.” Mrs. Li just wanted to comfort Mrs. Lu.
“It’s not a matter of being rebellious. He is a kind, heartless person. He has not inherited any of our good qualities from Rongyue. I think he looks exactly like his cheap dad, who doesn’t know where he came from. You have no idea how wild this kid is. If he doesn’t learn well all day long, he just skips school and gets into fights. I think he will be like this for the rest of his life.” Mrs. Lu had a furious look on her face. “He’s so notorious, and Rong Yue shouldn’t have given birth to him in the first place!”
Perhaps because his wife’s words were also reflected in his, Mr. Lu did not stop her from complaining this time. Instead, he let out a long sigh, which seemed to be in line with his wife’s words. “Yes, it would have been better if Rongyue had not given birth to him.”
Mr. Li’s face suddenly darkened. He suddenly understood why Lu Yuling was unwilling to go home—he didn’t want to live under someone else’s roof. Although the Lu family was prominent, they were all fake and hypocritical.
Deep down in their hearts, they still couldn’t accept their grandson, just like when they refused to let Rongyue come home.
Yu Ling was a human being with flesh and blood. Of course, he could feel the attitude of the old couple towards him.
Have a nice day!
