Chapter 33.2
The next morning, the alarm clock rang at 5.40 a.m., waking Li Xining up.
The first thing she did was check her phone to see whether there were any messages from Lu Yuling.
But there were no reminders for unread messages on the screen. She then specifically clicked on the dialogue box with Lu Yuling on WeChat and waited for half a minute before giving up completely.
She felt like crying.
During breakfast, seeing dark circles under her eyes, Li Xining’s grandparents asked what happened. She didn’t want to make the old couple worry, so she said that because of the monthly test, she stayed up until late at night and couldn’t sleep because she was nervous about the upcoming exam.
Hearing that, the two old people comforted their granddaughter.
Li Xining went out of the house to go to school after eating breakfast. She didn’t think Lu Yuling would come to get her today, but she saw he was waiting for her at the gate of the community.
When Li Xining saw Lu Yuling, she felt relieved and finally relaxed after worrying all night. ‘It seems he is not angry with me anymore.’
She approached him and asked, “Why are you here?” Her voice sounded surprised, and her eyes were shining with a big smile.
Lu Yuling had planned to ignore her all morning, but when he saw the dark circles under her eyes, he felt sorry for her. Despite that, he still spoke harshly. “Can’t I just go along? This road belongs to you?”
Li Xining replied quietly, “I never said you couldn’t come.”
Seeing that the little tigress was acting like an innocent little sheep, Lu Yuling almost laughed aloud. He suppressed his laughter and said seriously before riding his bicycle off, “Let’s go.”
Li Xining followed his lead without any hesitation.
For a while, they didn’t utter a single word. Lu Yuling acted like a strict boss, making Li Xining uncomfortable. After some time, she whispered, “Are you still mad?”
Lu Yuling was a little bit mad. ‘Hmph…how can I not be mad?’
Li Xining, who didn’t get a response, understood that Princess Lu was just pretending. She didn’t expose him and just explained, “The head teacher and the principal know about it. We need to be careful not to make anyone think we’re up to something bad, or there will be a big problem.”
Nobody expected Lu Yuling to get even angrier when he heard this.
Li Xining was surprised and immediately hit the brakes, following suit quickly. After they stopped, Lu Yuling asked Li Xining seriously, “Do you think I am angry because of this matter?”
“Otherwise?” Li Xining didn’t know what Lu Yuling meant and nodded, feeling confused.
Lu Yuling said angrily, “I’m mad because you didn’t ask me before deciding.” He frowned at Li Xining. “You just made a decision that involved both of us without asking me. Like yesterday, you talked to Chen Lin first and then told me your decision. Can you believe that I can’t get angry?”
He was not a three-year-old kid. Of course, he knew why Li Xining wanted to avoid being suspected for now. But what made him angry was that Li Xining believed what Chen Lin said. This was the second time it happened.
Li Xining felt bad and asked, “How did you know it was Chen Lin? What if it’s not actually Chen Lin?”
“I’m not dumb.” Lu Yuling said helplessly, “Chen Lin is more cunning than you think. Can you please be more careful with what you say to him from now on? He said ten sentences; nine of them were traps, and the last sentence was the purpose.”
He didn’t like Chen Lin, but he couldn’t tell Li Xining not to talk to him because they both were monitors in their class. Therefore, it was impossible to handle the classroom without communicating, so he just wanted her not to be tricked by Chen Lin.
Lu Yuling spent a lot of time with different people and was good at understanding them, so he could easily understand what kind of person Chen Lin was.
Li Xining thought Chen Lin was a bit full of himself. He never did anything to make her look bad, so she felt that Lu Yuling’s opinions about Chen Lin were too strong. But she didn’t argue; she just agreed with him and said, “Okay, I understand.”
Lu Yuling asked as if he were teaching a child, “Do you know that you are wrong?”
‘Why are you pushing so hard?’ Li Xining couldn’t argue with him because it would make the little princess even more mad. So she just swallowed her anger and said, “I’m sorry. I apologise sincerely. Okay?”
Lu Yuling wanted to say “no, but fearing the little tigress would be angry, he decisively chose to give it up. “Okay, as long as you realise the mistake, you are still an excellent class monitor.”
Li Xining ignored him and pedalled away. Otherwise, they would be late for school.
Lu Yuling hurriedly followed.
Have a nice day!
