Chapter 33.5

After five minutes passed, Lu Yuling came to the class with Li Muchen. They entered the class through the back door and quickly sat down.

However, Teacher Zhou didn’t plan to forgive Lu Yuling easily. He stood on the podium and yelled loudly at Lu Yuling in front of the entire class, “Lu Yuling, please stand up.”

Realising their teacher was very angry, the whole class became quiet, and everyone looked at Lu Yuling.

Li Xining stopped breathing for a second and looked at Lu Yuling with a lot of worry.

Lu Yuling probably thought this would happen, so he didn’t act upset or rebellious. He got up from the chair, straightened his back, and looked at the teacher without being scared.

Teacher Zhou was still mad and asked, “What time did you come to class today? And why did you come now?”

Lu Yuling said calmly, “I went to the parking lot to do my duty.”

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Lao Zhou said angrily. “What time did you come in the morning? When did you go downstairs to do your duty? I came to work at ten past six and didn’t see you.”

Lu Yuling: “I came at six o’clock and went to the cafeteria to have some food before going to the parking lot.”

The answer was good and made sense. Therefore, Teacher Zhou couldn’t find any faults in it. But he didn’t want to leave this matter just like this.

“Then why are you late? Shouldn’t you come after the bell rings?” Teacher Zhou pointed at the door and said angrily, “Take your book and get out.”

Lu Yuling expected Lao Zhou to act like this, and he also knew that if he talked back, he would end up more miserably.

So he just grabbed the book and left.

Teacher Zhou was still mad but worried that other students would see him being mean to Lu Yuling on purpose. So after Lu Yuling left, he secretly told the whole class, “I will say it again. Starting now, students who are responsible for duty must be in the classroom before 6:30 and start reading. Make sure to bring your books and read quietly.”

The whole class was really quiet, and then, after a few seconds of complete silence, the sound of turning pages of books was heard again in the classroom.

However, Li Xining no longer wanted to study. She could only think about Lu Yuling.

During this time, Teacher Zhou purposely went to her table and tapped it with his finger to say, “You are in your last year of high school. You should know what matters and what doesn’t.”

Li Xining looked at the book and didn’t speak.

Right after the morning reading, there was a test for the Chinese language. When the bell rang, students started packing and left their classes to go to their exam rooms.

Li Xining finished reading in the morning. She wanted to talk to Lu Yuling, but Teacher Zhou kept standing on the stage and looking at her.

Teacher Zhou’s actions this morning were a sign of trouble; therefore, Li Xining decided not to look for Lu Yuling and went straight to the exam room to avoid making things worse.

In the morning, there was a test for the Chinese language, and in the afternoon, there was a math test. She wanted to go see Lu Yuling during lunch, but Teacher Zhou was always watching them in class, so she had to wait.

After Li Xining finished her math test at five o’clock, she was stopped by Chen Lin. “Lao Zhou wanted you to finish the test and wait for him in the office. He wants to ask you something.”

Li Xining let out a big sigh and then felt really tired all of a sudden. She asked, “What’s going on?”

Chen Lin replied, “What else could it be?”
