You hidden in my heart - Chapter 34.2

Chapter 34.2
Still, Teacher Zhou hadn’t come, and Li Xining took advantage of the time to inquire more. “Was Lao Zhou very angry after seeing the post yesterday?”
“Yeah, he was very angry and called me to come to the office, Chen Lin replied.
Li Xining: “Why did he ask you to go to the office?”
Chen Lin sighed softly. “What else could it be? Just to ask me whether you and Lu Yuling are in puppy love.”
Chen Lin’s tone faintly revealed a little tiredness and worry, and it made Li Xining feel guilty. She thought that because of her and Lu Yuling, Chen Lin was troubled by Lao Zhou.
“I’m sorry.” Then she asked anxiously, “Then what did you say?”
Chen Lin seemed to be amused. “I said no.”
Li Xining: “Did he believe it?”
Chen Lin did not specifically respond to the question but instead offered some hints. “My response is unrelated to his opinion of your and Lu Yuling’s relationship. I am not the party involved, after all. Mostly, it is determined by your attitude.”
Li Xining was also not an idiot. She said she was rather unhappy after realising what Chen Lin was getting at. “You mean, let me break up with him? Why? Both of us haven’t done anything wrong.”
Chen Lin smiled helplessly and said, “I didn’t tell you to cut off your friendship with him. By clearing the relationship, I mean to show Lao Zhou that you have nothing to do with Lu Yuling. As for your own attitude, who can control it?”
Li Xining was noncommittal, but she was indeed opposed to this approach in her heart. In her opinion, being able to keep a distance from Lu Yuling in school was already the biggest concession. If she was asked to keep a clear line between the two, she would not be able to do it.
No one had smashed the window, although they both felt something for each other. Furthermore, they hadn’t gone beyond their bounds, broken any regulations, or collapsed together.
‘For what reason should we break up? Because of a stupid online post? Why? Is there any fairness in blaming the victims rather than the rumour mongers?’ Li Xining was less convinced the more she considered it. “Why did Lao Zhou believe that we were in puppy love? We haven’t fallen in love.”
Chen Lin: “He’s just suspicious. Now is the time to allay his doubts.”
Li Xining She still insisted on her own idea. “I can tell him the truth.”
Chen Lin asked, “Do you think he will believe?”
Li Xining: “It’s his business whether he believes it or not. Anyway, what I said is the truth.”
Chen Lin felt helpless, and when he spoke again, his tone was a bit serious. “You can’t always think about yourself. Don’t you care about angering the class teacher? Oh, anyway, you don’t need to worry about yourself because Lao Zhou will not punish you. But what about Lu Yuling?” He sighed. “To put it bluntly, the class teacher originally doesn’t like him, and he wants to suspend him. If you two continue to fight for this, will Lao Zhou let Lu Yuling go? Do you want him to be expelled from school?”
Li Xining seemed to have her weak point pinched by Chen Lin’s words. There was silence for an instant, and she no longer had the full confidence she had just now.
Chen Lin wanted to say something more but was interrupted by Lao Zhou, who suddenly appeared in his sight, and he quickly reminded Li Xining. “Lao Zhou is here.”
