Chapter 36.1
Green Shade Road was a well-known hotspot for bars in Xifu City, especially bustling at night.
The city’s nightlife slowly came alive as people gathered together after a busy day of eating and drinking.
The street was illuminated by bright lights and bustling with activity.
The last time Lu Yuling brought Li Xining to Green Shade Road was during the day when the street was quiet with only a few people around. At that time she felt that this place with rows of retro-style houses lined the street was quite peaceful.
However, she now realised that the Green Shade Road at night was a different world from its daytime counterpart.
If the daytime scene could be described as cultured, then the nighttime ambience was wild.
As darkness fell, decorative lights hanging on trees were turned on, creating a dazzling starry effect. The colourful lights harmonise with the high-pitched voices of singers from the bars, filling the eyes and ears of passersby.
Every bar was packed with customers.
This scene was the epitome of the unrestrained youth society.
According to Li Xining, it was very social.
Li Xining originally planned to ride her bike but changed her mind, realising it would take too long. She became anxious and hailed a taxi.
When she mentioned where she wanted to go, the taxi driver looked at Li Xining’s school uniform and said in a serious tone, “You should focus on your studies. Anyway, that place is not suitable for girls.”
Li Xining didn’t bother trying to argue or explain herself to the driver. She couldn’t put into words why she was going there in the first place, so she reluctantly listened to his lecture.
When they reached the intersection of Green Shade Road, the driver sighed disapprovingly before dropping her off.
As Li Xining paid the money and got out of the car, the driver shook his head and muttered, “Students nowadays are lawless!”
Standing at the intersection, Li Xining looked down Green Shade Road. The vibrant lights and lively atmosphere made it seem like a completely different world. She couldn’t help but think that Lu Yuling was indeed wild, just as the driver had said.
Most people who would come to places like bars either dress themselves up to look mature or youthful. Therefore, Li Xining’s outfit today was also dazzling.
As she walked into Green Shade Road, she immediately caught the attention of many people.
They had seen people dressed up as schoolgirls, but they had never seen such a realistic one. In addition, her figure and appearance were relatively outstanding; therefore, on the way to find Lu Yuling, she was approached by several men with bad intentions.
Last time, when Lu Yuling was with her during the day, no one dared to approach Li Xining. But now, alone and unfamiliar with this type of environment, she didn’t know how to handle these situations.
Every time someone came near her, she panicked, afraid of encountering the bullies she had seen on TV. She quickly shook her head and declined their advances, almost jogging towards the “Green Shade Depth” bar at the end of the street.
Suddenly she accidentally bumped into a young man in a suit and leather shoes. The man was tall and slender, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses hanging on his high nose bridge.
Li Xining didn’t have time to look up at the person she bumped into; instead, she hastily apologised and ran away.
The man’s glasses were nearly knocked off, but they still clung precariously to his face. He caught a glimpse of the girl’s appearance before she disappeared into the crowd. He was surprised and almost certain of her identity, but before he could confirm it, she was already gone.
He turned around quickly and tried to spot her in the sea of people. He realised that she was wearing a No. 1 Middle School uniform as he watched her go.
“Li Xiaoyao!” he shouted after her, but his voice was drowned out by the bustling street noise. She didn’t hear him at all.
Someone called out to him from behind, “Brother Li, who are you looking at?”
Still watching the girl’s retreating figure, Li Xiyan replied, “I think I just saw our little one.”
The man replied in disbelief, “Isn’t your sister still a high school graduate? How could she come to such a place?”
Although Li Xiyan thought it was unlikely that their obedient little sister would come to such a chaotic place, he couldn’t shake off his worry. He quickly chased after the girl and told the other man, “Go get Li Xiaowu and tell him our little one is here.”
Have a nice day!
