Chapter 39.1

The monthly tests would follow the same pattern as the college entrance exams, with maths and Chinese on the first day and comprehensive science and English on the second day.

Li Xining vowed to stay away from Lu Yuling. She had breakfast at home before leaving, so she could avoid eating with Lu Yuling.

A little after six o’clock in the morning, Lu Yuling rode to the community gate and waited for Li Xining.

Autumn had already arrived. The sky remained grey at six in the morning, with a half-moon still just barely visible above the western dome. Warm yellow light was expertly projected into the road by the street lights.

Li Xining had already seen Lu Yuling, who was waiting under the streetlamp with his elbows casually resting on the bicycle’s handlebars. His right leg was extended to support the ground, while his left leg was bowed and stepped on the bicycle pedal.

Although he was wearing the school uniform, it couldn’t hide the outline of his strong body, which would arouse the enviousness and jealousy of others.

Li Xining was very tempted by Lu Yuling’s figure and appearance, especially after he changed his hairstyle. As long as Lu Yuling didn’t make her angry for one day, she would be his little fan girl just for the sake of his appearance and figure.

‘But this jerk always tries to piss me off! Hmph, this kind of person just lacks education!’

Li Xining took a deep breath and was determined to treat him like air, following the plan she had decided the previous night. As a result, she didn’t even stop the bicycle. She didn’t even glance at him as she went to the community gate; instead, she rode directly out onto the road.

Lu Yuling galloped to her side in a hurry to catch up with her, and he grumbled angrily, saying, “Look at you! Why are you still keeping grudges? This is bad, because it will quickly damage our relationship.”

With just four words in response, Li Xining said, “Stay away from me!”

Lu Yuling objected, saying, “I took two showers yesterday. I smell so good right now. Just smell it if you don’t believe me.” He truly held out an arm in Li Xining’s direction as he was speaking.

Li Xining glared at him fiercely as she lifted her hand and pushed his arm aside, saying, “Go away; I hate you, you annoying ba*tard!”

Lu Yuling grumbled, “It makes me sad that you say that. It seems you truly despise me. I’m angry!”

‘How dare you fool me in your present situation?’ Li Xining felt irritated. She never put up with his bad behaviour. With a casual and detached reply, she said, “Then feel free to be upset.”

Lu Yuling let out a sigh and ended their argument. Rather, he uttered in a serious tone, “Li Xining, I mean it. We cannot fight forever. We have to work things out the next day, even if we fight again.”

They had to stop at the intersection because the traffic lights turned red.

Since Li Xining agreed with Lu Yuling’s words, she chose not to argue with him more for now. Even if they argue in the future, they shouldn’t harbour resentment right away because it would damage their bond. She could not forgive him quickly, and the accounts between them were still unresolved, so she did not think to forgive him easily.

After some reflection, she replied, “Lu Yuling, let me ask you. Now that I am angry with you, you feel that we must reconcile the next day, then if you are angry with me, will you take the initiative to reconcile with me the next day?”

Without hesitation, Lu Yuling declared, “I will definitely take the initiative to reconcile with you!”

Li Xining changed the topic. “Where’s the rabbit?”

Lu Yuling: ‘No matter what, she comes to the same topic.’

Seeing the boy didn’t reply, Li Xining’s attitude remained firm. “As long as I don’t see your rabbit, don’t even think about making peace. I don’t recognise you; I only recognise the rabbit.”

Lu Yuling continued to struggle and had not yet given up. “Do you prefer the rabbit or me, then? Isn’t I worth more than the rabbit?”

“Don’t tell me so much; I only recognise rabbits!” Li Xining exclaimed. She rode off on her bike when the red light turned green.

Lu Yuling had to speed up to catch up with her. He felt melancholy and helpless, and extremely regretful. He had never regretted so much in his life. He regretted it to death—why did he throw away the rabbit?

When they were about to reach the school, Li Xining did not stop the bicycle, but Lu Yuling did. He had not forgotten her advice to avoid suspicion, so he stopped the bicycle on his own initiative and kept a distance from her.
