Chapter 43.1
On the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, Mr. Li celebrates his eightieth birthday.
To celebrate his birthday, the elderly guy chose a Chinese-style mansion in the western suburbs.
During their lifetimes, Li Zhang and Li Xining’s father built this unique home for their elderly people.
The building was quite elegant with a classical Chinese decoration style from inside to outside.
On the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, the Li family came to this villa early in the morning to celebrate Mr. Li’s birthday.
The main hall in the second courtyard was used as a birthday banquet hall.
Before the birthday banquet began, the old Mr. Li and Mrs. Li. chatted with the older generation in the east wing while housekeepers and servants at the gate welcomed the guests.
While the older generation was arranged to stay in the east wing, the younger generation was in the west wing.
Li Xining’s eldest cousin-sister, second cousin-brother, and third cousin-brother were all married and had children, so they did not get involved with these unmarried brats and went to the east wing to help entertain the guests.
The fourth cousin-brother, Li Xiyan, was unmarried and still single. He wanted to go to the east wing, but others thought he was not old enough to stay there. But he didn’t want to stay in the west wing with the naughty kids. He thought he was old enough to not stay with them. So, he became a busy person, running here and there, giving a helping hand wherever needed.
The fifth cousin-brother, Li Xichen, was only two years older than Li Xining, so he could comfortably sit in the west wing and play with his mobile phone.
The sixth cousin-brother was only one year older than Li Xining. He was 19 this year and had just entered his freshman year. He was studying abroad, and because of his heavy academic load, he couldn’t return to China for the Chinese New Year this year and did not attend Grandpa’s 80th birthday.
At first, there were only two people in the west wing. When Li Xining and Li Xichen were playing with their mobile phones, the door curtain suddenly opened, and a little boy with a soft and chubby face ran in.
“Little Dudu!” His milky voice echoed in the hall.
He was Li Yuehao, the son of Li Xining’s second cousin-brother. Moreover, he was the eldest great-grandchild of the Li family.
This year, at the age of just over three, he captured the hearts of the entire Li family with his adorable and charming personality.
The old man celebrated his birthday today, so his parents specially dressed him up like a little ancient Chinese man. He wore a Chinese red Tang suit with a small red dot between his eyebrows. He looked like the little man jumping out of an ancient painting.
As soon as Li Yuehao entered the door, he ran towards Li Xining. He especially liked his little aunt. Every time he saw her, Li Xining had to hug her.
However, the child could not pronounce the word “little aunt” clearly, and he pronounced it as “Little Dudu.”.
However, before Li Yuehao could successfully throw himself into his little aunt’s arms, his fifth uncle picked him up halfway.
Li Xichen liked to tease the children at home. As soon as Li Yuehao entered the door, Li Xichen jumped up from his chair, stepped in front of the little boy in two or three steps, and picked him up from the ground. “You only saw the little aunt, right? Didn’t you see the little uncle? I gave you lucky money for nothing on New Year’s Day.”
The little boy was caught off guard and was shocked. “Oh!” Then he pouted at his fifth uncle angrily. “Annoying!”
Li Xichen continued to tease the little boy and replied with a smile. “You are three years old, and you still can’t pronounce it clearly? Come on, it’s annoying. Say after me.”
The little boy twisted into a ball. His face was full of displeasure, and he shouted louder with the wrong pronunciation. “Annoying!”
Li Xining was amused by her nephew.
The more the little one acted like this, the more Li Xichen wanted to tease him. “Okay, let’s stop joking. Do you want to drink water?”
Li Yuehao still said angrily, “Don’t want to pee!”
Seeing the little boy had fallen into his trap, Li Xichen was very proud. “I asked you if you want to drink water. What did you tell me about peeing?” he asked with a smirk.
Li Yuehao realised that he had been tricked by his fifth uncle again. This time, his face turned red with anger. Seeing that he was about to burst into tears, Li Xining quickly stood up from the sofa, walked towards Li Xichen, and stretched out her hand towards the little boy. “Come, Auntie will hug you. Ignore him. He is just a nuisance ghost!”
As soon as he heard his little aunt say that she wanted to hug him, Li Yuehao immediately closed his mouth and quickly stretched out his two chubby little arms towards the little aunt. After the little aunt took him into her arms, he glared at his fifth uncle as he had gained some confidence. “Hum… annoying!” he shouted again with a pouty mouth.
Li Xichen raised his eyebrows and replied, “Li Yuehao, you are making your fifth uncle sad like this. I’m sorry. Doesn’t the fifth uncle not treat you well? Didn’t I buy you a remote control plane when we met two days ago?”
Hearing that, Li Yuehao was a little embarrassed, and his chubby little face turned red. But he was very stubborn and insisted on not reconciling with his fifth uncle. He hugged his little aunt’s neck tightly and pursed his lips.
Realising the little one was angry with him, Li Xichen had no more moves.
Li Xining: “Look at you. Have you made someone angry? What happened to the remote control plane? We are people with backbone, right, Zhuangzhuang?”
[Tl: “Zhuangzhuang” is Li Yuehao’s nickname.]
Li Yuehao nodded. “Yes!”
Li Xining laughed aloud.
Li Xichen rolled his eyes at his sister and said, “You will add fuel to the fire.”
Li Xining retorted, “You asked for it. Why did you bully our Zhuangzhuang in the first place?”
Li Yuehao agreed with his aunt. “That’s right!”
While the aunt, nephew, and uncle were bickering, the heavy windproof door curtain was opened again.
Li Xining thought it was her fourth cousin-brother who had been running around all morning, but when she looked back, she realised that there was not only the fourth cousin-brother but also Lu Yuling.
