You hidden in my heart - Chapter 45.1

Chapter 45.1
As soon as Mr. Lu finished speaking, Mrs. Lu also stood up from her chair. Although she didn’t say a word, her face revealed anger that was hard to conceal. Everyone could feel that she was determined to leave.
Although they were not very close to this grandson, he was their daughter’s son after all.
What was more, Zhao Cichu scolded not only Lu Yuling but also Rongyue. The old couple could not tolerate others insulting their deceased daughter.
Lu Yuling’s uncle Lu Rongxing had the same attitude.
Although both the Li and Zhao families were wealthy and powerful families in Xifu, he couldn’t let them insult his Lu family.
Although Yuling was not his biological child, he treated him as his son from the bottom of his heart and would never allow another family’s child to scold him like that.
‘Son of a b*tch, this word is really dirty.’
His sister had been dead for six years. She had suffered misfortune in her life, and after her death, she had to be insulted in public by a little girl like this? He couldn’t stand it, and he couldn’t swallow it.
After supporting his mother’s arm and standing up with her, Lu Rongxing looked back at Lu Yuling and said without question, “Yuling, let’s go home.”
Lu Yuling stood there without moving, looking a little embarrassed. Because Li Xining was holding his hand tightly, he was reluctant to push her away, but he didn’t know how to face his family.
Zhao Ci Chu stared at the two of them with a gloomy look and cursed them in his heart. ‘Shameless.’
Li Xining knew that her current behaviour was extremely out of line, and she would definitely be scolded for being rude and unruly. She also knew that she had made Lu Yuling embarrassed, but she absolutely could not let the Lu family take Lu Yuling away now; otherwise, her grandfather’s efforts would be in vain.
Although she held Lu Yuling’s hand tightly, she looked at her grandfather anxiously.
Mr. Li understood the purpose of his granddaughter’s action and immediately stood up from the stool, walked anxiously to Mr. Lu’s side, held Mr. Lu’s arm with his wrinkled hands, and said anxiously, “Old Lu, don’t be angry first; let’s discuss it properly.”
For the sake of their long-time friendship, Mr. Lu did not push Mr. Li away. But he replied angrily, “Let’s discuss it properly? How can we discuss it properly?”
Mr. Li kindly comforted him. “These are just unintentional words between children. Don’t be angry.”
Old Master Lu sneered angrily. “Unintentional remarks? Ha, Old Li, you really don’t know the pain until you are hurt.” Having said this, he raised his hand again, pointing at Zhao Cichu with a sullen face. “If she scolded your Li Zhang like this, calling him a dog, would you still say something like unintentional remarks that don’t hurt you?”
As soon as these words were spoken, all the Li family members present frowned.
The dead were the most important. No one wanted their deceased relatives to be used as targets for no reason.
Li Xining and Yu Wenyin looked even uglier. Among all the people present, only the mother and daughter were qualified to refute what Mr. Lu said, but they were both sensible people and finally chose to forbear.
Since both of them chose to endure, the Li family members in the house had nothing to say and could only endure it as well.
But Lu Yuling couldn’t stand it. He remembered all the kindness Uncle Li had shown him. He frowned unhappily and said to Mr. Lu as calmly as possible, “Grandpa, please don’t implicate innocent people. This matter has nothing to do with the Li family.”
Upon hearing Lu Yuling’s words, Mr. Lu was even angrier now. “It’s fine if others go against me, but you are also going against me, and don’t you think about who has been supporting you for so many years?” He immediately glared at Lu Yuling in anger and cursed angrily, “You are an ungrateful white-eyed wolf!”
Lu Yuling clenched his teeth and did not refute his grandfather’s words. To a certain extent, he might really be an ungrateful person in the eyes of his grandparents, but if he did not stand up and defend Uncle Li’s reputation and the dignity of his wife and daughter, he would be a completely ungrateful person.
When his mother brought him back to Xifu, they had no one to rely on, and only Uncle Li was willing to help them. If it weren’t for Uncle Li, the mother and son might have starved to death on the streets. Moreover, he had been without a father since he was a child, so Uncle Li often played the role of a father.
He still remembered that when he was in the first grade of primary school, his classmates always laughed at him for not having a father and called him a disobedient child that his father didn’t want.
Whenever he heard such words, he would rush up to fight with them, but he would get a black eye every time.
After he came home from school in the evening, his mother saw his face and asked him what happened with anger and distress. He didn’t say anything and kept all his grievances and anger in his heart. His mother had no choice but to call the class teacher, but the class teacher couldn’t explain it clearly, so the matter ended up being left unresolved.
Later, his mother might have guessed something. When he came home with injuries on his face, she no longer blamed or questioned him. Instead, she held him in her arms and carefully applied medicine on his wounds.
Whenever this happened, his mother would always ask him helplessly and distressedly, “Aren’t you afraid of the pain?”
He shook his head, saying, “It doesn’t hurt.” He had never cried because of this incident, not shed a single tear, and had never been afraid. The next time he heard them scolding him like this, he would still rush up to fight with them.
Although the little boy didn’t say it, he was scarred in his heart. The words of his classmates always made him feel that it was shameful for him to not have a father. However, he never showed this inferiority complex but chose to defend his dignity with actions.
‘You can scold me; that’s your business. You can do whatever you want, but it is also my right to hit you.’
There was one more thing he had never told his mother.
His mother was a music teacher in the primary school where he attended.
When he was in elementary school, students only had one or two music classes a week. In higher grades, they might not even have one class at all, as all the classes were taken up by Chinese, math, and English. There were not many classes in the school, only four in each grade, so his mother took care of all the music classes for grades one to six.
She was recognised by all teachers and students as the most beautiful teacher in the school.
His mother had always been his pride.
However, one day at noon, he had something to do and went to see his head teacher. When he walked to the door of the classroom office, he suddenly heard a group of female teachers in the room talking about his mother.
The first person to speak was his head teacher, the female teacher who wasn’t very pretty but always liked to dress like his mother. “Lu Yuling’s mother calls me every day and often comes to my office to ask me what happened to her son’s face injury? Can’t she guess what happened? It’s because her son has no father! But I can’t answer her directly like that. I can only tell her that I don’t know either. It should be just a little fight between children.”
Another female teacher snorted coldly and continued with a contemptuous tone. “Look at her appearance as a rich lady, like a swan. She doesn’t even consider her own conditions. She dresses up in fancy clothes every day. Who is she showing off to in school? Does she really think she is Snow White?”
The school held a teachers’ talent contest two days ago. His mother participated in the contest. She was wearing a snow-white strapless long dress and was as beautiful as a princess in a fairy tale. As soon as she appeared on the stage, she received screams and cheers from all the teachers and students in the school. Later, the students in the school privately said that Teacher Lu was Snow White.
As soon as the female teacher finished speaking, another teacher chuckled and made a malicious joke. “Maybe she wore it for the principal to see?”
As soon as these words were spoken, all the teachers in the office burst into laughter.
Although he was only seven or eight years old at that time and could not understand the deeper meaning of these words, he could feel the malice revealed in these words from the teachers’ laughter.
They were saying bad things about his mother.
At that moment, he hated these teachers.
He knew that going in at this time was a very bad choice, but in order to defend his own and his mother’s dignity, he pushed open the red iron door of the office without hesitation.
In an instant, the laughter in the room stopped abruptly, and all the teachers were stunned. A group of adults looked at this seven- or eight-year-old child in confusion and guilt.
The headteacher was the first to react. She jumped up from her chair in a hurry, as if she were welcoming a leader. She walked towards him quickly while smiling ingratiatingly, “Yu Ling, why are you here?”
He did not respond to the head teacher’s smile, nor did he step into the office. Instead, he stood at the door with his back straight, looked at his teacher calmly, and replied in a crisp voice, “I came to tell you that my father will be attending the parent-teacher meeting this Friday.”
After he finished speaking, he turned and left, leaving a group of teachers standing there in shock.
When he said this, he looked very confident, but he was not confident at all in his heart.
After returning home from school that night, he quietly called Uncle Li while his mother was cooking in the kitchen and carefully asked him if he could be his father for a day and attend a parent-teacher meeting for him on Friday.
Have a nice day!
