Chapter 47.1

They agreed to meet at 6 pm, but Li Xining decided to leave at 5:30 pm because she wanted to see whether that annoying Lu Yuling would wait for her. Besides, she didn’t agree to go on a date with him yesterday, so it wouldn’t be considered late even if she was a little late.

Although Li Xining decided to teach Lu Yuling a lesson, she started to get ready two hours in advance. 

She snuck into her mother’s bedroom and sat quietly in front of her dressing table after taking a shower.

Yu Wenyin went to the company early this morning and was not at home today.

There were various skin-care products neatly arranged on the dressing table. Li Xining looked left and right, and from time to time she would carefully pick up a bottle to take a closer look and then put it back in its original place intact. Even the angle of the bottle was exactly the same as before, so she would never let her mother find out when she got home.

After choosing for a long time, Li Xining decided to use her mother’s favourite La Mer this time.

She actually had her own line of skincare products, but they were all student brands and neither as high-end nor as good as her mother’s. As a result, she constantly believed that using her mother’s items would make her look more beautiful, as though her mother’s skincare products were like magic water that could transform her into a fairy.

Normally, she would never dislike her skin care products, but not today. Today was her first date with Lu Yuling, and she must make herself more beautiful because this was an important day.

She was not skilled at applying makeup yet. She first patted some water on her face, then applied a layer of lotion. Then she gently opened the tall drawer on the left side of the dressing table. There was a lipstick rack inside. The rack was filled with lipsticks of various brands and colours.

After looking at them, she finally selected a Dior colour-changing lipstick.

After putting on a coat of lipstick, her rosy, plump lips became even more appealing, resembling a red cherry dripping with crystal rainwater.

 Then she looked up at the mirror. 

 The girl in the mirror had thick black hair, fair and delicate skin, lively eyes,s, and plump red lips. She looked like a little fairy. 

Li Xining was very satisfied with her appearance. Although she had not applied much makeup, she felt she had become a lot more beautiful.

After arranging her mother’s things, she gently stood up from the stool. Before leaving, she did not forget to put the stool back in its original place.

The school was startinging tomorrow, so they had already moved to the house near the school. 

Mr. and Mrs. Li were watching television while seated on the living room sofa.

 Li Xining hurried to Mrs. Li once again after exiting her mother’s bedroom and begged her coquettishly, “Grandma, please braid my hair~”

 “Why do you want to braid your hair suddenly?” Mrs. Li asked with a doubt. 

Because she was too ashamed to speak honestly, Li Xining just said, “I’m going out to see the light show later.”

 “It is not until six o’clock that the light show begins. When are you leaving? Who are you going with? What time will you be back?” Old Mrs. Li had a lot of things to worry about. “Don’t be back too late. You have school tomorrow.”

Mr. Li glanced at Mrs. Li and snorted coldly. “You’re just worrying about nothing.”

With anxiety, Mrs. Li said, “You old man! Did I not worry that she wouldn’t be safe if she went out at night?”

 “She’s out playing with Yuling,” Mr. Li added. “How could she be in danger? She will undoubtedly be able to be safely sent home by Yuling.”

Mrs. Li finally understood the situation and looked at her granddaughter with sudden enlightenment.”Do you want to go to the lantern show with Yu Ling? No wonder you want to braid your hair.”

Li Xining blushed a little but replied proudly, “I said I didn’t want to go, but he forced me to go.”

Mrs. Li said “Oh” first and then replied, “If he asks you to go, then go. He just needs to send you back as soon as possible.”

 Li Xining: ‘Why are you so confident in him?’ Then, she whispered, “It’s not safe for me to go out with others, but it’s safe to go out with him?” 

 Mr. Li replied firmly, “Don’t worry; he will definitely protect you and will never let anyone bully you.”

 Old Mrs. Li also nodded. “Yes, he won’t let anyone bully you.”

 Li Xining was speechless. ‘What kind of magic potion did that idiot Lu Yuling feed my grandparents?’

 In fact, a big part of the reason why Mr. Li and Mrs. Li were so confident in Lu Yuling was that they saw with their own eyes how he protected their little one at the birthday banquet yesterday. 

No matter how serious the crime was, he would not explain at all but would take all the responsibility on himself and not let their granddaughter suffer any grievances. If someone wanted to bully their girl, he would not only protect her but also help her fight back and would never let her be bullied. Also, that bad girl Zhao Cichu actually dared to let the wolfdog attack their little one. If Yuling hadn’t been there, the consequences would have been disastrous.

The elderly couple felt comfortable allowing their precious granddaughter to go out and play with Lu Yuling. They knew he was a responsible child and that he was truly kind to Li Xining.

After Li Xining gave her grandmother the things to braid her hair, she moved a small stool, sat in front of the old lady, and patiently let her grandmother braid her hair.

Mrs. Li was likewise a lovely woman with an outstanding appearance when she was younger, and she was also highly skilled. Her ability to braid hair was widely recognised. She had a variety of skills and was proficient in numerous ways to do hairstyles. Before getting married, a lot of girls wanted her to braid their hair. Despite her advanced age, she maintains her talent level. When it came to braiding hair, she was agile and strong despite having wrinkled hands.

The black hair in her hands was evenly and swiftly separated and overlapped. She quickly did Li Xining’s hair in a stunning black fishtail braid.

 After finishing the fishtail braid at the back of her head, the old lady began to braid the long bangs on Li Xining’s forehead. The long bangs were divided into two strands and braided into thin pigtails along the hairline on both sides. The ends of the two thin pigtails were tucked into the big fishtail braid at the back of her head. Finally, the fishtail braid was tied into a bun behind the left ear, and it was done.

“Okay.” Mrs. Li gave Li Xining a shoulder pat while grinning. She also expressed her admiration for her granddaughter, saying, “Our little one has great hair, so black and shiny.”

Li Xining leaped from the stool right away and hurried eagerly to the bathroom to take a look. She switched on the light and looked at the mirror right away. The girl in the mirror looked beautiful and elegant. Under the white light, her black braids were still shining.

‘Wow! I’m a little fairy. A little fairy!’

She was very satisfied with her hairstyle, so she happily went to change her clothes. She had actually already chosen the outfit: a pink V-neck sweater with jeans and a camel-coloured woollen coat. 

However, when the old couple saw their little girl’s outfit, they got angry because it was already slightly snowing. They said they would not let her go out unless she went back to change into a down jacket.

Li Xining was forced to return to her room and put on a white down jacket. The elderly couple, however, were still not happy and had her wear a scarf because they claimed that her clothing’s collar was too low and that she would get cold when she went out.

“Okay.” Li Xining went back and wore a red scarf again.

However, the old couple was still not satisfied because she was not wearing a hat, and her head would definitely catch a cold if the wind blew.

Now it was Li Xining’s turn to get anxious. “If I wear a hat, won’t the braid be in vain?”

However, the old couple didn’t change their words: You must wear a hat and gloves!

Reluctantly, Li Xining had to put on her hat and gloves again.

Before allowing their granddaughter to leave, the elderly couple made sure she was properly wrapped.

Li Xining was utterly dejected while changing her shoes. All of her dressing up seemed pointless to her.

‘What could that moron Lu Yuling see while I’m already covered up like this?‘

After changing into snow boots, Li Xining was about to say, “I’m leaving,” to her grandparents; however, at this moment, there was a soft knock on the door.
