You hidden in my heart - Chapter 48.1

Chapter 48.1
When Zhao Hailan said “superstar,” his tone was calm but firm.
Li Xining held her breath momentarily, staring at Zhao Hailan in a daze. After a long time, she slowly came back to her senses and finally accepted this news, which was equivalent to explosive news to her. Then she was silent for a long time in shock, and finally she replied. “Oh.”
“You are sometimes like your father,” Zhao Hailan said after thinking for some time.
“Oh, my grandma also said that I look more like my dad,” Li Xining replied.
“You are as smart as your father,” Zhao Hailan said with a soft smile on his lips.
But Li Xining couldn’t grasp the meaning of his words.
“Your father doesn’t like to talk much, but he can hide things better than anyone else,” Zhao Hailan clarified. “Yu Ling’s mother used to say that he is better and more stable than me, which sometimes makes me jealous of your father.”
Li Xining was at a loss for words, but since it was about her father, she had to give him credit. “My father is really good.”
After a brief period of silence, Zhao Hailan stated without emotion, “You can ask Yuling if he knows your father later.”
“Ah?” said Li Xining.
Repeating his previous statement, Zhao Hailan said, “Your father is not very talkative, but he is better than anyone else at hiding things in his heart.” He did not elaborate more.
Li Xining frowned before realising that her father must have known from the start that Lu Yuling was Zhao Hailan’s son because her grandfather had guessed this. ‘Is it possible? Could it be that my father had been helping Lu Yuling’s mother to conceal this matter? Wouldn’t Zhao Hailan be mad at my father?’
Startled, Li Xining hurried to start to clear her father’s name. “How could my dad know Lu Yuling? How could my dad meet them if you haven’t met them? The world is so big; the probability is too small.”
Zhao Hailan murmured, “No matter how small the probability is, it is still possible, so I asked you to ask him.”
‘Even if it is true, I’ll never tell you. How can I get my father in trouble?’Li Xining thought. But she replied, “Okay.”
As if sensing her thoughts, Zhao Hailan smiled and said, “After asking, you don’t have to tell me the answer.”
“Why?” Li Xining asked with a frown.
Zhao Hailan: “Because I know your father must have known him.”
With a hint of dissatisfaction, Li Xining remarked, “You can’t just guess.”
Zhao Hailan answered, “Yesterday I inquired how the Lu family was doing. Because she gave birth to Yuling, Yuling’s mother’s parents kicked her out. Yuling’s uncle was going through a career crisis at the time, and he was being suppressed by his opponents all the time. So he couldn’t care about her at that time. The only person Rongyue could ask for help in Xifu was your father. Only your father would register Yuling’s household registration and settle them. Apart from your father, I really can’t think of another person who can help them.”
Since she couldn’t bear to have Zhao Hailan reprimand her father in front of her, Li Xining responded bluntly, saying, “Uncle Zhao, if this is true, you should thank my dad instead of scolding him for being cunning. He helped your child and your child’s mother! Also, do you think he doesn’t want to tell you? What if Lu Yuling’s mother didn’t let him tell you? What do you want my dad to do? No matter what he did, he will be in trouble!”
Zhao Hailan seemed mute by Li Xining’s strong remarks. Zhao Hailan was aware of this fact, and he was certain that Li Zhang had not intentionally concealed it from him. But he was just angry: angry that he had hidden it from him for so many years. If Li Zhang were still alive, he would definitely punch him.
He could only express his inner discontent to Li Zhang’s daughter now that Li Zhang was no longer in this world. He just couldn’t take this breath if he didn’t say it aloud—this stuffy seal!—even though it seemed a little like bullying. What surprised him, though, was how strong Li Zhang’s daughter was. She was very much like her strong mother in this way and not entirely like Li Zhang.
Zhao Hailan had known Li Xining for a long time, but this was the first time he had given the little girl a serious thought. She was very attractive, and had inherited her mother’s straightforward character, and her father’s sharp intelligence. She would undoubtedly be able to control his son. Zhao Hailan grinned as he thought of this, saying, “Xining, you know, I made an agreement with your father before.”
Li Xining had no idea why Zhao Hailan had abruptly shifted the topic. Even though she was shocked, she inquired, “What agreement?”
Zhao Hailan: “Engage our children to get married.”
Li Xining was momentarily surprised, flushed, and looked out the window silently.
Zhao Hailan curled his lips into a smile and said nothing more since he knew the girl was embarrassed.
Outside the window, snowflakes had already begun to fall.
Zhao Hailan parked the vehicle at the Xifu River’s bank five minutes later.
Trees were planted on both sides of the river, giving it a cool environment.
At this moment, lanterns were hung on each tree, including star lanterns, snowflake lanterns, lantern lanterns, and other styles of lanterns.
The long riverbank was brightly lit.
Snowflakes were freely floating between heaven and earth; the long road was dazzling, the sky was red and black, and the Xifu River at night was as stunning as a Van Gogh painting.
Li Xining noticed Lu Yuling waiting for her in front of a tree before the car came to a stop.
The young man was well-built and tall. He was standing there, straight. He appeared to be a king who had left the world of gods, as the brilliant light behind him glowed.
Superstar was the only term that sprang to mind at that moment for Li Xining. She wanted to meet him as soon as possible, so she opened the door swiftly as the car stopped.
Zhao Hailan abruptly told, “By the way, don’t tell your mother that your father knows Lu Yuling; otherwise, she will definitely be angry.”
Li Xining soon realised what he meant. Even if there was no emotional bond between his father and Lu Yuling’s mother, no woman could stand by while her husband helped another lady and her kids outside.
She could imagine how hard her father had tried to keep it from her mother. Moreover, her mother had regarded Lu Yuling’s mother as her love rival earlier, so it would become chaotic if her mother found out about that matter.
With a swift nod, Li Xining said, “Got it, thank you, Uncle Zhao.”
Zhao Hailan responded, “Well, go quickly; he must have been waiting for you for a long time.”
Have a nice day!
