Chapter 50.1

The graduation ceremony of No. 1 Middle School in the city was scheduled for the third day after the college entrance examination.

Li Xining went to pick a dress with her mother the day after the college entrance exam.

A month ago, the head teacher suddenly called Li Xining to the office and gave her an important task: to be the main host at the graduation ceremony.

The graduation ceremony was a large-scale event, and five hosts were selected to conduct the programme.

A host should have a pleasant appearance and good temperament, and the first best candidate that the grade head teacher thought of was Li Xining from Class 7.

She was an outstanding student with a graceful appearance and a good attitude. Moreover, she had often served as a student representative to speak on the stage. Therefore, choosing Li Xining as the main host was the most suitable.

Li Xining was not a girl who shrank from her responsibilities, so she took the challenge without fear. However, she didn’t tell many people. Only Xu Donruo and her mother knew that, and she did not even tell Lu Yuling.

After hearing the news, Yu Wenyin immediately took her daughter to a high-end dress studio to customise an evening gown for her. She thought of giving the girl a customised dress not only because Li Xining was selected to conduct the programme, but also because she wanted to give it as a high school graduation gift.

The owner of the dress studio was a gifted designer called Zhou Xiaolei, who was also a long-time friend of Yu Wenyin.

Although ordinary people hadn’t heard the name of this talented designer, she was well-known in the design industry. She often cooperated with the world’s top luxury brands. Moreover, her nickname was ‘the Fairy Godmother’—as long as a person wore the dress designed by her, Cinderella could become Snow White. 

Many female celebrities in the entertainment industry wanted to wear dresses designed by Zhou Xiaolei when they were attending events or award ceremonies. Whenever they wore a dress made by her, they would definitely become the top in the hot search as “outshining beauties in the world”.

However, it was not that easy to gain Zhou Xiaolei’s favour.

When people worked hard in an industry and reached a certain level, they would stop there. Zhou Xiaolei was now at the top of the industry, so she didn’t need to work on countless dresses to be recognised among the people. The reason Zhou Xiaolei took Li Xining’s order was because she was Yu Wenyin’s long-time friend.

Today the mother and the daughter went to give the body measurements. 

Zhou Xiaolei personally took measurements for Li Xining.

Li Xining had to remove the outer clothes to provide more accurate measurements. 

The special measurement room prepared by the studio for customers was very spacious and private, so Li Xining cooperated with the task with relief. 

All designers liked clients who were highly cooperative, and Zhou Xiaolei was no exception.

With the help of Li Xining, Zhou Xiaolei finished taking measurements without any trouble.

When Zhou Xiaolei finished measuring Li Xining’s waist and continued to measure her hips, she couldn’t help but praise the young girl. “You have a good figure.”

All women enjoyed receiving compliments, especially when they were attractive.

Li Xining was no exception.

So hearing Zhou Xiaolei’s words, our girl couldn’t help but curl the corners of her lips.

“Do you have a boyfriend?” Zhou Xiaolei asked after finishing the task.

Li Xining instantly thought of Lu Yuling at that moment, but since they weren’t yet together, she shook her head and said, “Not yet.”

“I’ll introduce you to someone after the college entrance exam, okay?” 

Zhou Xiaolei had a good personality. Otherwise, Yu Wenyin and Zhou Xiaolei wouldn’t have been friends for so many years. 

She said to Li Xining half jokingly and half seriously, “I know quite a few young talents.”

Li Xining quickly shook her head and waved her hands hurriedly. “No, no!”

“Oh.” As she put away her tools, Zhou Xiaolei said with a knowing smile, “That means you have a crush on a boy.” 

With a crimson face, Li Xining nodded without concealing it.

“Is he a prince?” Zhou Xiaolei inquired. ‘A princess should be paired with a prince.’

After giving it some thought, Li Xining said, “He’s a fool.” Then she burst out laughing.

Zhou Xiaolei was amused by this girl again. “Boys in puberty are all like fools. My first love is also a fool.”

Li Xining asked curiously and expectantly, “Was he still stupid afterward?”

“I guess he’s not stupid anymore.” Zhou Xiaolei shrugged. “But we didn’t get together again after breaking up.”

“Oh!” Li Xining’s smile froze on her face, and the expectation in her eyes gradually disappeared. She felt a little sad and couldn’t help asking, “Why can’t first love be together forever?”

Thinking of that, she felt scared. ‘What if we two drifted apart as most first lovers?’

“Whether two people can stay together forever has nothing to do with whether it is the first love,” Zhou Xiaolei said after carefully considering Li Xining’s thoughts. “Life is neither short nor long, but whether they can walk side by side forever depends on whether the two people have tacit understanding.” 

She looked at the anxiously looking girl and said again, “I broke up with my first love because we didn’t have a tacit understanding. I had always dreamed of becoming a designer since I was 18, and I didn’t give up on this idea until I got married. But my first love asked me to give up my dream and go home to take care of my husband and children. I felt that I couldn’t do it, and he was not willing to change for me, so we broke up. Later, I met my current lover, who has always supported my dream, so in the end, it was him who walked with me all the way, not my first love.”

Still a little perplexed, Li Xining said, “I don’t know if he and I can keep getting along like this.”

Zhou Xiaolei grinned and said, “Why are you already planning for the future when you two haven’t even been together yet? Baby, you have too many things to think about.”

After a little period of silence, Li Xining said, “I don’t even know when we can be together.”

Zhou Xiaolei: “What do you mean? Does your mother disagree?”

“It has nothing to do with my mother,” Li Xining said.

“It seems that the problem lies with that boy, right?” Zhou Xiaolei asked. 

After a brief pause and a nod, Li Xining muttered, as though disclosing a small secret. “I’m waiting for him to confess to me.”
