Zhao Hailan had been following them silently. Hearing the conversation between the uncle and the nephew, he was extremely jealous of Lu Rongxing. He was jealous from the bottom of his heart. He had never been so jealous of anyone in his life.

He didn’t know if he would have the chance to get along with his son as freely as Lu Rongxing in his life.

When the three of them returned to the gymnasium, the ceremony was about to begin, and the parents’ area was already full of people.

The centre of the gymnasium was also organised into class-wise groups for students to sit. 

The stage was built on the north side of the gymnasium, and the curtain was still closed at this time.

When Lu Yuling arrived backstage, the five hosts were about to appear on stage. It was only then that he saw Li Xining’s attire today.

The fairy’s look really amazed him. ‘Wow, such a beautiful girl is actually my girlfriend!’

As Li Xining was the main host, she stood in the middle of the line. The two male hosts stood on both sides of her, and the other two female hosts stood outside the male hosts.

When the host was about to go on stage, Lu Yuling saw one of the male hosts suddenly raise his arm, smile, and say something to Li Xining.

‘Is he asking whether she needs help to get on the stage because she is wearing heels?’ 

Lu Yuling knew that guy. ‘He is Zheng Wen from Class 18. Hmm… a playboy, and his favourite thing is flirting with girls. You flirt with my girl in front of me? Do you think I care about your habits?’ Then he pushed through the crowd and walked to the side of the stage and quickly came to Li Xining.

Li Xining had been looking for Lu Yuling but couldn’t find him. She didn’t bring her cell phone with her, so she was almost anxious. Now that he was finally here, she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. “Where have you been?” she asked, glaring at him angrily.

“In the playground.” After saying that, he suddenly leaned over and kissed her cheek in front of everyone.

Li Xining’s face instantly turned red. She didn’t dare to look at the people around her. “What are you doing!” She whispered with a livid look.

Lu Yuling replied with confidence and a smile. “Kiss my girlfriend.” As he said that, he glanced at Zheng Wen next to him, declaring his sovereignty.

Zheng Wen looked away awkwardly.

Li Xining knew exactly what this person was thinking, but she was about to go on stage, so she didn’t bother to argue with him. “Go read the programme. The order of performance has been changed.”

Lu Yuling: “Okay, I’m leaving. Be good and don’t embarrass me.”

Li Xining suppressed her laughter and said, “You annoying guy! Please leave now!”

Lu Yuling smiled and left.

Li Xining took a deep breath and then went on stage with four other hosts.

After the five of them stood in their designated positions, the curtain that had been closed slowly opened.

There was a sudden burst of applause and cheers in the gymnasium, and then someone began to take the lead in shouting. “Xining Goddess.”

As soon as Li Xining picked up the microphone, the shouts stopped instantly—giving face to the Goddess Xining.

“Dear classmates, teachers, and parents, good morning. Today is…”

“Three years of hard work, three years of harvest…”

“Thank you, teachers; thank you, parents…”

“We are graduating…”

“The future is promising…”

As the five hosts took turns delivering opening speeches, the graduation ceremony gradually began.

After the hosts’ speech, the principal spoke first, followed by the head of the senior class, and then a student representative. After the speeches were over, the performance officially began.

There were not many items, just twelve in total.

Before each item started, two hosts would come forward to announce it.

Originally, Lu Yuling’s programme was scheduled in the middle, but after the adjustment, it became the last item.

Li Xining waited for a full hour and a half in nervousness and anticipation before Lu Yuling came on stage.

Lu Yuling wore a black T-shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers today. The combination was simple; he expressed the youthful vigour and elegance of a young man.

In the huge stage, he stood in the middle of the stage with a wooden yellow guitar hanging on his chest. Under the white spotlight, he stood tall with handsome features and a proud temperament, making others envious and jealous.

As soon as the curtain opened, there was a burst of enthusiastic applause from the audience. Some people admired his looks, some admired his figure, and some were genuinely looking forward to his performance.

Lu Yuling was usually popular among his grade, and those brothers and buddies were all rather naughty boys. After Lu Yuling came on stage, they first clapped and screamed in support. Later, someone started to shout, “Xining Goddess, come out! Give him a kiss!” and finally it turned into everyone in the audience shouting together, “Xining Goddess, come out! Give him a kiss!”.

Li Xining was standing backstage and could clearly hear the cheers from the audience. Her face turned red like a ripe tomato.

Lu Yuling was not embarrassed at all but amused. He then adjusted the standing microphone and said to the crowd in the audience without changing his expression. “Alright, stop making trouble. If you continue to make trouble, I have to go back and kneel on the washboard.”

There was an immediate burst of laughter from the audience.

The only people who didn’t laugh in the audience were probably Yu Wenyin and the old couple of the Li family.

The old couple of the Zhao family smiled particularly sweetly as if they had returned several decades ago and found the feeling of first love.

Lu Rongxing was also laughing, and while laughing he said to Zhao Hailan, “This kid will probably be beaten up by the Li family.” After saying that, he glanced next to him, and then he realised that there was no one around him. When he looked more closely, he found that Zhao Hailan had run into the group of students at some point, borrowed a stool, and was now standing on the stool, holding up his phone to record the stage.

The way he showed support was just like that of a real father.

Lu Rongxing was a little speechless and couldn’t see through Zhao Hailan.

After the laughter from the audience subsided, Lu Yuling took a deep breath and said into the microphone, “A song. You are in My Heart. For a girl.”

His tone sounded casual, but his words revealed his tenderness. His voice was very mellow and as alluring as moonlight, and every syllable struck directly at the heart.

Li Xining held her breath instantly, stood behind the scenes, and stared at Lu Yuling on the stage.

The gymnasium was as quiet as a lake at night.

Before starting to play, Lu Yuling suddenly turned his head and looked at the side of the stage where Li Xining was standing.

He smiled at her, with a look of cynicism and domineering in his eyes. He raised his eyebrows slightly as if to say to her, I’m going to let the whole world know that you are my girl today!

The fingertips gently stroked the strings, the prelude sounded, and the melodious and soothing guitar music filled the entire gymnasium smoothly.

Although this song was unfamiliar to everyone, the rhythm was very attractive and it instantly brought the audience into an atmosphere of attentive listening.

The prelude ended, and the main melody began, and Lu Yuling sang along with the guitar music.
