You hidden in my heart - Chapter 53.1

Chapter 53.1
The results were out early in the morning on the 25th of Monday.
Li Xining scored 671 points.
After checking her results, she was about to call Lu Yuling, but Lu Yuling called her first.
In the presence of her mother and her grandparents, Li Xining was too shy to answer the phone, so she slowly slipped away from the living room to her bedroom and closed the door.
Once the call connected, Lu Yuling’s voice came through. “Hey, how did you do on the exam, wifey?”
‘Wifey?’ Li Xining thought, feeling a mix of annoyance and relief that she wasn’t in the living room. She shot back, “Who’s your wifey? How embarrassing!”
Lu Yuling didn’t argue; instead, he confidently stated, “I scored 625.”
With a score of 100 points higher than the first-tier line, he would definitely be admitted to an ordinary university. Although there was still some distance to the entrance to Xi’an Fudan University, he took the art examination channel, so this score was definitely more than enough, and he may even be the first in his major in liberal arts.
So the implication of his words was, that I will definitely be admitted to Xifu University!
They had a deal: if Lu Yuling got into Xifu University alongside her, she’d be his wife.
Li Xining understood what he was implying but decided to play dumb. “Oh, I got 671.”
Lu Yuling kept his cool tone, responding, “Not bad, wifey; you deserve a pat on the back.”
Li Xining was embarrassed. “Who is your wife? I don’t want to be your wife! Don’t call me wife anymore!”
“Look, we’ve already made plans to attend Xifu University together. You’re going to be my wife, so don’t even think about dodging your responsibilities. And I won’t let you go against Uncle Li. I need you to be a good and respectful daughter.”
‘Bringing up my dad again to pressure me?’ Li Xining couldn’t handle his arrogance anymore. “Let’s just wait for the admission notice!” With that, she hung up the phone, feeling quite pleased.
But not long after, she got a WeChat message from Lu Yuling. It was still full of his usual bravado. [Good night, my little wife.]
‘Why does he keep calling me wife?’
Li Xining felt a mix of anger and amusement and shot back. [So annoying!]
Lu Yuling replied, [You’re my wife, so there’s no escaping this life.]

Undergraduate registration started on July 2nd.
After spending nearly a month as an apprentice under Zhou Xiaolei, Li Xining found herself more and more drawn to dress design. She wanted to soak up all the knowledge she could from Teacher Zhou and also aimed to major in something related to fashion design in college.
The only problem was she had never taken an art exam and lacked painting skills, which pretty much ruled out the fashion design major for her.
Yu Wenyin, aware of her daughter’s aspirations, reached out to Zhou Xiaolei for advice on what to do next.
Zhou Xiaolei, being a pro, suggested that Li Xining apply for the “Fashion Design and Engineering” major at Xifu University. That programme didn’t require an art exam and was based on academic performance, but students did need to take advanced painting courses while in college.
Li Xining felt like she had found a lifeline and applied for that major without a second thought.
After filling out the application form, she called Xu Dongruo to ask her what school and major she had applied for. Unexpectedly, she also applied for the major of Fashion Design and Engineering at Xifu University.
At first, Li Xining was very surprised by this, but soon she felt that this was actually expected, because Xu Dongruo loved design, and her dream since childhood was to become a leather designer.
During her school years, Li Xining received many leather handbags and wallets from Xiao Dongruo. All of them were designed and made by her. The texture and shape were in no way inferior to the branded products sold at shopping mall counters.
Li Xining once asked why Xu Dongruo loved designing bags so much.
“Because of my grandpa and my brother.” It was Xu Dongruo’s reply.
Although the ‘grandpa and brother’ Xu Dongruo mentioned were not biological relations, they were the most important people in her life.
During her senior year of high school, Xu Dongruo had her heart set on studying fine arts and taking the art exam, but her parents were totally against it. She put up a fight, but it was like a little bird trying to take on a hawk. Plus, her older sister was always in her corner opposing her, so in the end, she had to give in. She focused on her studies and prepared for the college entrance exam like everyone else.
Now that the results were out, and she scored over 650 points! The choice of where to apply was all hers, and naturally, she was going for a design major.
Li Xining was thrilled for Xu Dongruo. And even happier knowing they’d still be classmates in college.
Have a nice day!
