You hidden in my heart - Chapter 54.2

Chapter 54.2
The bedroom light cast a cosy yellow glow, gently illuminating Li Xining’s face.
Her eyebrows were beautifully shaped, her lips a rich red, and her expression radiated the gentle warmth of spring water.
Lu Yuling was completely captivated by the charming girl under the warm light. At first, he felt shy about looking directly at her, like a young guy experiencing his first crush. He hesitated to show his feelings, worried she might catch on to his secret admiration. He stole glances at her, only to quickly look away. But then it hit him—‘This is my girlfriend, so why should I be shy about looking at her?’
Once he realised that, he let go of his reservations and gazed at her openly, feeling a wave of satisfaction wash over him.
His intense stare made Li Xining blush a bit. With flushed cheeks, she lowered her gaze and asked softly, “Why do you keep staring at me?”
With a grin, Lu Yuling replied, “Is it wrong for me to look at my wife?”
“Who is your wife?” Li Xining rolled her eyes at him and said angrily, “Shame on you!”
Lu Yuling: “You. You are my wife!”
Li Xining quickly grabbed a spoonful of porridge and brought it to his lips, saying, “Just eat!”
Lu Yuling complied and took a bite, then smiled softly. “Look at my girlfriend. She’s gorgeous.”
No girl could resist a compliment from a guy she liked. Even though Li Xining felt a bit shy, she couldn’t help but smile a little. She quickly suppressed her smile and looked at Lu Yuling. “How could I ever compare to you right now, Princess Lu?”
After Princess Lu got sick, his cheeks had a rosy glow. Although he had handsome masculine features, at this moment, there was a soft look on his face. The usual cocky look in his eyes was replaced by a more vulnerable, puppy-like gaze. With those rosy cheeks and lips slightly stained with porridge, he resembled a delicate little princess.
After hearing Li Xining’s comment, Lu Yuling didn’t argue or push back. He sighed dramatically and muttered, “I know. You’re just into my looks and want to take advantage of me.”
Li Xining asked, “Do you really think I’m a rascal like you?”
Lu Yuling frowned, “Look at all the labels you’ve slapped on me! First, I was shameless, then annoying, disgusting, and now a rascal. What do you even like about me?”
Li Xining shot back, “I like you because you’re rich and a bit clueless!”
Lu Yuling replied earnestly, “No, it’s my looks that draw you in.”
Li Xining grimaced, “I’m not into your looks!” Trying to tone down her arrogance, she added, “I prefer someone like Shen Siqi, not you.”
Honestly, she braced herself for Princess Lu to throw a fit, but to her surprise, the little princess just stared at her silently, with a blank expression.
Feeling a bit guilty under that gaze, Li Xining wanted to reach out and comfort her, but the princess just turned away, curling up in his blanket, and huffed, “I don’t want to eat anymore!”
‘Is he really throwing a tantrum like a toddler?’ Li Xining thought, half-amused. “Are you three years old?”
Instead of continuing his pout, Lu Yuling switched tactics, playing the victim. He said softly, “Li Xining, just leave me alone for now. I feel awful—headache, cold, dry throat, and I’m just weak all over. I don’t want to talk.”
Instantly worried, Li Xining set the bowl down and touched Lu Yuling’s forehead, which was still warm. “Hold on, I’ll grab a thermometer,” she said, rushing off to the living room.
Have a nice day!
