You hidden in my heart - Chapter 57.2

Chapter 57.2
Lu Yuling was lost in thought about his chat with Li Xining when a man sitting across from Zhao Hailan suddenly got up and headed straight for him.
At first, Lu Yuling thought about turning back to the bar, but after a moment of hesitation, he decided to stick around. He was curious about what Zhao Hailan was up to this time.
The man was of average build, had a square jaw, and black-framed glasses. He seemed to be in his early forties. He wore a white business T-shirt and gave off a vibe of being calm, smart, and capable.
As he approached Lu Yuling, he flashed a casual smile and extended his right hand, introducing himself. “Hi, I’m Wang He, the vice president of Zhengxing Entertainment.”
Wang He was a top-notch agent in the entertainment world.
‘Wow, they really sent in the big guns this time.’
Lu Yuling suddenly realized he must hold some significance in Zhao Hailan’s eyes.
Even though he wasn’t a fan of Zhao Hailan, he didn’t outright dismiss Wang He. He reached out, shook Wang He’s hand, and simply said, “Lu Yuling.”
Wang He kept his warm smile, and asked, “Do you work here?”
Not wanting to beat around the bush, Lu Yuling directly said, “Just tell me what you need; I’m in a bit of a rush.” His tone wasn’t exactly warm, but he didn’t outright reject him either.
With such an unexpected response from a young guy, Wang He was taken aback for a second, feeling a bit awkward. Not many people in his circle dared to act so casually around him; even the biggest stars showed him some respect. He had heard from Mr. Zhao that this guy was aiming for a career in entertainment, so Wang He thought he’d be treated like most artists who were usually polite. But he didn’t expect this guy to be so standoffish.
Quickly shaking off his embarrassment, Wang He kept a smile on his face and said, “Alright, I won’t beat around the bush. Have you thought about becoming a star?”
Lu Yuling replied straightforwardly, “Yeah.”
Wang He thought. ‘If he wants to make his debut, why is he acting like this? Does he not know who I am?’ So he clarified again, “I’m the vice president of Zhengxing Entertainment and also would like to be your agent. Have you thought about signing with an entertainment company?”
“I’ve thought about it,” Lu Yuling said, “but not Zhengxing.”
Wang He was left speechless.
Lu Yuling added, “Do you need anything else? If not, I’ve got to get back to work and make some money for my wife.”
Wang He paused for a moment and said, “Well… then go ahead and get to it.”
But Lu Yuling didn’t leave right away. He glanced at Zhao Hailan sitting across from them and then told Wang He, “Make sure to tell Zhao Hailan to keep his distance from me in the future.”
Wang He felt a bit annoyed, thinking this guy was being too full of himself. He replied with a hint of advice, “Do you know Mr. Zhao’s standing in the entertainment industry?”
What it meant was that if you offend Mr. Zhao, you would basically have no chance of staying in this circle in the future.
Lu Yuling shot back, “Do you even know what my uncle does in the capital?”
Wang He was dumbfounded because he had no clue who the young man’s uncle was.
Lu Yuling, sensing his confusion, explained, “His last name is Lu, and he’s the chairman of the Lu Group. He told me that if I want to make my debut, he’ll hook me up with the resources I need.”
Wang He: “…”
Lu Yuling continued, “Do you know my wife’s last name? It’s Li, and her mom is the CEO of Haixing Real Estate. My wife promised to be my sponsor and support me.”
Wang He: “…”
Lu Yuling then asked, “Are you okay? If you’re okay, I’m leaving.” After saying that, he turned and left.
Wang He: “…”
Fuming, Wang He gritted his teeth and headed back to the bar across the street. He took a sip of his drink to cool off.
Zhao Hailan noticed his mood and figured Wang He must have struck out. He chuckled and said, “I told you, he’s not going to agree that easily.”
Wang He had hoped to sign the guy directly to avoid the hassle of a talent show, thinking it would save him time and money. But he didn’t expect to be shut down right off the bat. “This kid is way too full of himself!”
Zhao Hailan wasn’t mad; he was actually proud of his son. “What did he say to you?”
Wang He took a deep breath and said, “I introduced myself as the vice president of Zhengxing and asked if he had ever thought about signing with us for his debut. He mentioned he had thought about it, but not with Zhengxing.”
Zhao Hailan burst out laughing.
Wang He went on, “He threw a couple of disrespectful comments your way, so I asked if he knew who Mr. Zhao was in the entertainment scene. He flipped it back on me, asking if I knew his uncle’s influence in the capital. Then he mentioned that his wife promised to back him financially in the future. The bottom line, he just doesn’t like us, the Zhengxing. Honestly, he’s a young master who’s not to be trifled with. The entertainment industry is just a part of the capital circle, and the Lu Group was indeed someone we cannot afford to offend.”
Zhao Hailan remained unfazed and advised Wang He, “Don’t let him get to you. He’s just nineteen and still in that young and reckless phase. Plus, he’s not really aiming at you; it’s me he’s got an issue with.”
Wang He had intentionally left out what Lu Yuling had asked him to relay to Mr. Zhao, but he was surprised that Mr. Zhao could still pick up on the kid’s hostility. After a moment of hesitation, he asked, “What’s his problem with you?”
Zhao Hailan was open about it. “It might be because I pay him too much attention, which makes him suspicious. He’s got his mother’s wild spirit, and he’s inherently arrogant, so he doesn’t like people who are overly attentive for no reason.”
Wang He was taken aback. The information in that sentence felt overwhelming, and it took him a while to process it all. He then glanced at Mr. Zhao, who was sitting across from him, and noticed that the wild kid bore a striking resemblance to Mr. Zhao. Not just a little—if you looked closely, their features were quite alike, except for the eyes.
Suddenly, it clicked for him, or rather, he was hit with a shocking realization—President Zhao’s intense interest in this kid wasn’t just about wanting to sign him; there was more to it. But he could only grasp this internally since President Zhao hadn’t stated it outright, so he couldn’t jump to any conclusions and had to keep it to himself.
After a brief pause, Wang He managed to regain his composure and replied, “The programme plan will be ready next week. If everything goes smoothly, we could start the project by early October.”
Zhao Hailan admired Wang He for his quick grasp of things. He smiled and nodded, saying, “Make sure to send me the plan as soon as it’s ready. Once the project is underway, all his work needs to come to me first for review.”
“Got it.” After a moment of thought, Wang He asked, “What if that kid decides not to sign?”
Zhao Hailan responded with a slight smile, “There’s always someone out there who can make him obey.”
Have a nice day!
