Xifu University was massive and had both north and south campus buildings, each featuring its own playground. 

Li Xining and her team were busy with military training at the South Playground. 

Among students in the South Playground, Lu Yuling definitely stood out. The fitted camouflage uniform he wore, emphasised his tall and handsome figure. Therefore, people, especially girls, couldn’t stop looking at him several times whenever he passed them.

It was the third day of military training. Students from all over the country were enrolled into the university, so they were still not familiar with each other. So even if girls wanted to show their affection to our boy Lu Yuling, they didn’t act rashly. They thought it was better to observe the situation before taking action.

From the start of military training, Li Xining was the only one who brought water to Lu Yuling. Even though the little princess always turned Li Xining down with excuses like, “Men and women should keep their distance, or people will get the wrong idea,” Li Xining felt she had to keep going. So, she bit her tongue and kept bringing water to Lu Yuling.

This was the first time Lu Yuling acted in such an arrogant way in front of his girlfriend. But now things had changed, and he felt justified in being a bit cocky, which made him a little too proud. 

His girlfriend offered help but he pushed her away. The result? By the third day, his girlfriend was giving him the cold shoulder.

Li Xining noticed that several girls had started bringing water to Lu Yuling, and with so many girls the competition was heating up. From the morning gathering at 7:30, Lu Yuling was like a blooming peach blossom, drawing in all the attention like bees to honey.

Even though he turned down those girls every time without a second thought, Li Xining was still fuming and decided to take away her bottle of Noble Water, refusing to hand it back.

Lu Yuling had a gut feeling that something was off the moment the first little girl showed up with water for him. Sure enough, that feeling turned out to be correct. His girlfriend never came back to see him, not even a glance in his direction. 

‘It is clear that the little tigress was feeling jealous.’ Lu Yuling thought about sweet-talking her, but then he got curious about what would happen if he didn’t try to coax her. ‘Would she feel a bit insecure? Would she come looking for me? Would she start to see me as her most precious possession from now on?’

After thinking about whether to comfort her or not, Lu Yuling decided to hold off to see what would happen.

Honestly, when he made that choice first, he felt pretty good about it. He was sure Li Xining would come to him first since he didn’t do anything wrong.

So, he waited for his girlfriend to come and make things right. But he couldn’t sit still for long—less than half a day, he noticed a bunch of wolves hanging around the playground. 

The Fine Arts Academy was on the north side of the campus while the Academy of Physical Education was located in the south.

The population of male students in the Academy of Physical Education was extremely high.  There were more than ten rows of freshmen in the physics department, and only the first two rows were girls.

Soon after they spotted the beautiful girls in the Music Academy and the Fine Arts Academy, those boys started to make a move on them. 

Li Xining and Xu Dongruo were definitely the top picks in their eyes. They both had their own unique beauty, with figures that were just right—not too skinny; with curves that would catch people’s eye. Their camouflage uniforms hugged their waists perfectly, and when they tightened their belts, their waists looked so tiny that they could almost hold them with one hand.

However, when it came to attracting attention from guys, Xu Dongruo had the edge over Li Xining. 

Li Xining had this pure, noble vibe that gave off a fairy-like presence, which could be a bit intimidating. On the other hand, Xu Dongruo had a sly fairy charm, especially with her captivating, dreamy fox eyes that drew people in. Plus, her figure was a bit more eye-catching than Li Xining’s, with a fuller bust, a slim waist, and a nice round backside.

All morning, the two had been turning down guys who tried to bring them water or get their contact info. Well, to be fair, only Li Xining had been rejecting the boys, while Xu Dongruo rejected both the boys and the girls.

Li Xining was drinking water when the first girl brought Xu Dongruo some water.

The cute girl with a short haircut from the Academy of Music dashed over to Xu Dongruo with a bottle of water. With her big, doe-like eyes, she looked at Xu Dongruo shyly and raised the bottle, saying softly, “This is for you.”

Li Xining couldn’t help but spray water everywhere as she burst out laughing, but she felt too embarrassed to do so in front of them. So she quickly turned away, hiding her face with her hands to stifle her amused grin.

Xu Dongruo remained calm, as she was used to these situations. She glanced at the girl, who was a bit shorter than her, and gently replied, “I like boys, and I have a boyfriend.”

The girl looked disappointed, but she still mustered the courage to ask, “Can we be friends?”

Xu Dongruo didn’t hold back, and said directly, “No.”

With a heavy heart, the girl walked away, leaving behind the bottle of water as a bittersweet reminder of her unrequited feelings.

Once the girl was gone, Li Xining turned to Xu Dongruo with a grin and asked, “What’s it like being pursued by a girl?”

Xu Dongruo thought for a moment and replied, “It’s like  I wanted to plant on my own pile of cow dung, but there happened to be a flowerpot on the pole that stuck to me.”

Li Xining was amused by her friend’s words and laughed out loud again. “You actually said your brother is cow dung!”

Xu Dongruo asked back, “What do you think Lu Yuling is?”

Li Xining suddenly fell silent. ‘Haha, he is also a piece of cow dung and a piece of cow dung that only knows how to make me angry every day!’

Li Xining couldn’t help but sneak a look at the students of the Academy of Music. 

Lu Yuling was also staring at her, but as soon as their eyes met, the little princess quickly turned away, acting all high and mighty. 

Li Xining felt a mix of anger and frustration. ‘Oh, so you’re not going to comfort me, huh? Fine, if you’re brave enough, just stay away! I’ll make you regret it! 

“Ugh, what an annoying person!  Yuling is just the worst!” she muttered through gritted teeth. 

Xu Dongruo sighed, shaking her head. “You two are always at each other’s throats. Are you in love or just trying to see who can be more stubborn?”

Li Xining rolled her eyes and replied with a smirk, “You wouldn’t get it. This is called chemistry.”

Xu Dongruo: “…”The single friend felt a bit left out.

Just then, a loud commotion erupted from the girls on the playground. The gossip-loving duo, Li Xining and Xu Dongruo were instantly drawn in and followed the excited gazes of the other girls toward the north gate. In no time, they were swept up in the excitement.

“Xu Linfeng!”

“It’s Xu Linfeng!”

“The legendary heartthrob, Xu Linfeng!”
