You hidden in my heart - Chapter 58.2

Chapter 58.2
Xu Linfeng was wearing a camouflage uniform, but he looked like he was wearing a suit. With his tall, slender body, striking features, fair skin, and indifferent eyes, he stood out among others. It was like he was radiating some serious ‘walking hormones’ energy.
Li Xining and Xu Dongruo were momentarily taken aback.
After a moment, Li Xining mumbled, “Is he really a genius? I mean, I’ve never seen a genius who looks this good.”
Xu Dongruo couldn’t take her eyes off Xu Linfeng. “For sure, he started military training two days late because he was at an art exhibition.”
Li Xining asked, “How do you know that?”
“I did some digging,” Xu Dongruo replied, showing off her gossip skills. “I even found his information online; he’s had two solo exhibitions, and the first one sold out completely.”
Li Xining was impressed but also a bit shocked. “Does our college really let him come back to military training after two days have passed?”
Xu Dongruo said, “Having a student like him is a huge win for our college. Who would complain? He had an offer from the Paris Academy of Fine Arts.”
Li Xining then asked, “Why did he choose Xifu University?”
Xu Dongruo shrugged. “No clue. Maybe he just wants to experience life as a regular person.”
Li Xining was left speechless. Meanwhile, Xu Linfeng had already made his way to the front of the art academy’s formation.
The break wasn’t over yet, and a bunch of girls were sitting on the ground, taking a breather. But as soon as Xu Linfeng showed up, they all jumped up, dusted themselves off, fixed their outfits, and fluffed their hair, worried that they might not look good enough for their male idol.
Even though Li Xining and Xu Dongruo weren’t sitting down, they couldn’t help but start fixing their looks when Xu Linfeng arrived, adjusting their clothes and straightening their hats.
They were clearly thrilled. When Lu Yuling noticed Li Xining fixing her clothes, he couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous. ‘Why didn’t she do that when she came to see me?’
With no time to waste, he quickly got up and headed straight for the Academy of Fine Arts.
With the arrival of Lu Yuling, the girls there were totally shocked. They didn’t expect two different male gods to show up in such a short time.
Li Xining spotted Lu Yuling and knew why he was there, but she decided to play it cool and act like she didn’t see him. ‘Oh, so now you want to play nice? It’s too late for that!’
Lu Yuling approached Li Xining and asked, “Where’s my aquatic noble?”
In the last couple of days, everyone hadn’t really had the chance to get to know each other well. The only ones who knew that Lu Yuling was Li Xining’s boyfriend were the girls in their dorm. The rest of the girls were still in the dark. Plus, Li Xining had been trying to send water to Lu Yuling for the past few days, but he hadn’t accepted any. This led to some girls teasing Li Xining behind her back, saying she was too eager to please boys and win them over.
Therefore, when Lu Yuling came to see Li Xining, they were all surprised.
Li Xining looked at Lu Yuling with indifference and said, “There’s a difference between guys and girls. I can’t give you water; it would be disrespectful.”
Lu Yuling was speechless.
Then, Li Xining stepped back and mimicked his previous actions, saying, “Don’t get too close; people might misunderstand us.”
Lu Yuling felt frustrated because he had hit his own foot with a stone. So he decided to drop the childish act of testing his girl’s limits.
He admitted his mistake, tugged at Li Xining’s sleeve, and started to act cute, saying, “I was wrong; let’s make up, please.” He then shouted, ‘Wife!’ really loudly, as if he wanted everyone to hear it.
As soon as the word ‘wife’ was left out of the boy’s mouth, everyone was shocked. The girls felt their hearts fall apart, but they quickly reassured themselves that it was okay because Xu Linfeng was still single.
Li Xining totally got what this jealous dude was thinking. She shot him a fierce look, basically saying, Good luck with that!
Lu Yuling kept pulling Li Xining’s sleeves, playing the victim card. “I’m out of water and super thirsty right now.”
Li Xining didn’t hold back. “Well, just deal with being thirsty then!”
Lu Yuling had to pull out his secret weapon. “I got you a watch that Zhao Yijing and Chen Mengjin are promoting.”
Zhao Yijing and Chen Mengjin were the leads from the hit costume drama “This Life Is Not Wasted” that blew up this summer. Even though Li Xining had promised herself after dealing with Shen Siqi that she wouldn’t chase stars anymore, she never said she wouldn’t ship CP. After watching the show, she got hooked and started enjoying the thrill of shipping CP. The chemistry between Zhao Yijing and Chen Mengjin was undeniable. They often interacted on Weibo, and their behind-the-scenes moments were super sweet, which totally made CP fans happy. Everyone knew their flirty interactions were probably just for show to boost their fame, but they couldn’t help themselves.
For Li Xining, CP-shipping felt like a dramatic love story. It was her happy place, and she couldn’t give it up. So when a fancy watch brand announced that Zhao Yijing and Chen Mengjin were their new faces, she really wanted to buy one to feed her CP obsession, but she never could because it was too pricey.
Her mom was worried she would pick up the same bad habit of spending money as Zhao Cichu, so Yu Wenyin kept a tight grip on her daughter’s pocket money. Because of that, Li Xining hadn’t really saved much. Sure, she had over 50,000 yuan in her bank account, but that was not really hers. It was money Lu Yuling gave her—40,000 yuan- of tips from Zhao Hailan that Lu Yuling handed over to her when he got home. She couldn’t just spend it freely, and she reluctantly postponed her plan to buy a watch.
When Li Xining heard Lu Yuling say he bought her the watch she had been dreaming about, she lit up with excitement. She didn’t even mind that he hadn’t come to comfort her earlier. With wide eyes, she asked, “Really?”
Lu Yuling chuckled at her reaction. “Really.”
He knew exactly what she wanted since she had been obsessed with that drama all summer, shipping the couple daily.
Li Xining was thrilled, but she tried not to show it too much; she didn’t want to be the kind of person who changes moods faster than flipping a page. So, she held back a smile and said coolly, “Oh, thank you.”
‘Haha, you little rascal!’ Lu Yuling raised an eyebrow and asked again, “Where’s my aquatic noble?”
Li Xining dashed over to grab her schoolbag from the shade to fetch the Water Noble, then returned with it, beaming as if she were presenting a prize. “Here you go. Your Water Noble!”
Lu Yuling replied, “The cap’s still on.”
Li Xining quickly twisted it off for him.
After taking a sip, Lu Yuling smirked. “Not bad at all.”
Even after Lu Yuling took the water bottle, Li Xining was still buzzing with excitement, but then a thought hit her. ‘Where did he get the cash?’ She recalled that he hadn’t turned in his salary for the last month and a half.
Normally, Li Xining would have scolded him for that, but since he had saved up to buy her a watch, she decided to let it slide this time.
The military training wrapped up at 11:30 a.m., and as soon as the whistle blew, all the college groups scattered.
Lu Yuling joined Li Xining again.
Not wanting to intrude, Xu Dongruo opted to grab a bite with her roommates instead.
Lu Yuling took Li Xining’s hand and said, “Come on, wifey, let’s go eat’.”
For the sake of the watch, Li Xining didn’t argue about the ‘wifey’ comment but shot him a proud glance.
Lu Yuling caught the look and said, “What’s with that attitude? If you want to play, you’ve got to accept the loss. We’re both at Xifu University now, and you’re my wife.”
Li Xining chose to ignore him.
Have a nice day!
