Chapter 58.3

As they strolled hand in hand toward the north gate of the ground, Li Xining spotted Xu Linfeng in the crowd ahead. 

A bunch of girls surrounded him, eager to catch a glimpse of their idol. 

Just as they were about to reach the ground entrance, Li Xining noticed two girls climbing on the high fitness bar. One of them stood out with her stunning looks—not in an intimidating way, but warmly and invitingly. Her bright, expressive eyes sparkled like fallen stars and flowing spring water, instantly drawing people in with her gentle charm.

Xu Linfeng also noticed the girl and, subconsciously his eyes met hers. 

Her eyes were very clear, and at that moment, he felt an urge to sketch them. 

But he didn’t act on that impulse right away; instead, he casually looked away and left the playground. 

“Bei Jia! Bei Jia! Stop staring, everyone else has left!” 

Li Xining heard the other girl calling out the pretty girl.

‘The last name Bei is pretty uncommon, but the name Bei Jia has a nice ring to it, and it suits her well.’

Realising she was thinking about an unfamiliar girl, Li Xining brushed off her thoughts as she exited the playground. 

Just as she was about to ask Lu Yuling what he wanted for lunch, Lu Yuling suddenly chimed in. “Military training finishes next Friday.”

Li Xining got what he was hinting at but chose to brush it off. 

Then Lu Yuling chimed in again. “So… we’ll go out Friday afternoon.” 

“Xu Dongruo and I have plans. We are going to take a high-end bath with massage and milk bath,” Li Xining said with a look. After all that military training, her back and waist were killing her, so they decided to pamper themselves once it was all over. 

Without missing a beat, Lu Yuling said, “I’ll just wait for you at home.” 

Li Xining didn’t turn him down, mainly because she had stood him up for a month, and it felt awkward to say no. Instead, she blushed and muttered, “So annoying!” 

Lu Yuling shot back, “What did I do this time?” 

Li Xining shot him a look. “Aren’t you mad at me for making you come over?” 

Lu Yuling replied earnestly, “Come on, we haven’t seen each other in ages. I just want to talk about how we feel.” 

Li Xining rolled her eyes: “You’re such a dork!”

The military training finished after ten long days. On the final day, Friday, the parade kicked off at eight and wrapped up before eleven. The freshmen who had put in all that hard work finally got a break. 

Knowing his girlfriend was off to a luxury bath, Lu Yuling sent her a thousand yuan earlier so she could enjoy herself. 

After training, Li Xining and Xu Dongruo rushed back to their dorm to grab their stuff and then headed to a high-end bath centre that cost three hundred and ninety-eight yuan. 

It was a full-service deal that included steaming, scrubbing, massages, and a milk bath. 

Once the first round was done, they moved on to the second, which featured a buffet lunch, afternoon tea, and beauty and body treatments.

It was awesome.

With a refreshed body and mind, both came out of the bathing centre. 

Before parting, the two exchanged their thoughts and insights.

Xu Dongruo: “The service is good. I might consider coming here next time.”

Li Xining: “I think we can try the one that costs 498 next time. It comes with a private room, no time limit, and we can also make appointments to play mahjong.”

Xu Dongruo sighed, and replied, “Let’s talk about it when we have money.”

Li Xining was very generous. “It’s okay, I’ll use the money my man used to support me to support you!”

Xu Dongruo was so moved that tears welled up in her eyes, and she made a vow directly. “If I can’t marry Zheng Bufan in the future, I will be your mistress!”

Li Xining: “…Haha, you even rhymed it.”

Xu Dongruo went back to her own home, and Li Xining went back to Lu Yuling’s home – she told her mother that she would stay in the dormitory tonight and go back tomorrow morning.

At about five o’clock, she showed up at his place. Since she had the key, she didn’t bother knocking and just let herself in. The moment she stepped inside, a delicious smell of rice hit her.

‘This annoying guy is really something else!’

After shutting the door, Li Xining slipped into her slippers and called out, “Lu Yuling!”

Lu Yuling emerged from the kitchen, wearing a blue plaid apron. “What time is it? You actually remembered to come back?” He said it like a young wife scolding her husband for being late. “Did you go take a shower or go swimming?”

Li Xining held back her laughter and replied with confidence, “What do you know? Girls take a long time in the shower because we’re super careful. It’s not like you, who can shower in ten minutes.”

Lu Yuling shot back. “Alright, even if you’re washing carefully, can you really wash from twelve to five?”

“I finished my shower around four. I’m late because of traffic,” Li Xining said, then turned and headed towards the bedroom without looking back.

After entering the bedroom, she put her bulging schoolbag on his study desk and then took out a mirror, a comb, a facial mask, a hairpin, a lipstick, and a set of skin care products from the schoolbag. 

On the way home, she also stopped at the supermarket and bought an extra set of things. She could keep them in his house instead of taking them away, and it would be convenient for her.

Just as she was tidying up his study desk, she inadvertently caught a glimpse of a dark blue velvet square jewellery box on the inside of the desk. The logo printed on the box was the same brand as the couple she was obsessed with, so she naturally assumed that the jewellery box contained a watch. She immediately picked up the jewellery box from the table, opened it with great interest, and was stunned.

It was not a watch but a pair of platinum rings.

At this time Lu Yuling walked into the bedroom.

Li Xining took the ring box, turned around and looked at him intently.

Lu Yuling came to call her for dinner. When he saw the ring box in her hand, he was stunned at first, and then confused. “Why did you open it?” He wanted to give her a surprise!

Li Xining felt as if she had made a mistake – she shouldn’t have turned around, but immediately closed the ring box and put it back. But she didn’t want to admit that it was her fault, so she replied without any confidence. “You put it on the table.”

He put it on his study desk after buying it, always thinking of giving her a surprise, but when he got home today, he forgot to hide the ring.

Sighing, Lu Yuling smiled helplessly, and replied, “Forget it, you saw it anyway.”

Li Xining still stared at him intently. “And then?”

Lu Yuling stepped forward a couple of paces, stood right in front of her, and took the ring box from her grasp before saying, “Then go ahead and put it on.” 

He then pulled out the lady’s ring from the box, set the box back on the study table, took Li Xining’s right hand, and carefully slid the ring onto her ring finger, saying, “By wearing my ring, you become mine.”

Li Xining kept her gaze on him. “And then?”

Lu Yuling simply extended his left hand “Then you put it on me, and from this moment on, I’ll be your one and only little princess.”

Li Xining made a face but still retrieved the men’s ring from the jewellery box and placed it on Lu Yuling’s left ring finger. “I’m putting this on you, and only I can take it off.”

The message was clear: you can’t just remove the ring!

Lu Yuling replied without a second thought, “Alright, I promise you that.”

After they exchanged rings, Li Xining asked once more, “And then?”

Lu Yuling responded. “Then we eat.”

Li Xining frowned and said with irritation, “You annoying guy, you’re not romantic at all.”

Lu Yuling found his girl amusing once again, quickly cupping her face with his hands and leaning down to kiss her. When the kiss broke, he gazed into her eyes with intensity and asked in a low voice, “Is that romantic enough?”

Li Xining was kissed passionately by him, but her response was, “Not enough.”

Lu Yuling’s throat moved as he swallowed, his eyes darkening slightly, and his voice grew even more heated. “So what do you want?”

Li Xining felt too shy to answer directly. Her cheeks flushed, and she looked down and murmured, “It’s still daytime, the curtains are open…”

Lu Yuling took a deep breath and replied, “I’ll go and close  them.”

The dark blue curtains were excellent at blocking light, and once they were drawn, the brightness in the bedroom faded instantly.

Li Xining suddenly reconsidered her thoughts about the curtains.

After he returned, Lu Yuling shut the door again. The room was now completely dark. He asked first, “Are you hungry?”

At that moment, Li Xining definitely couldn’t admit to being hungry, so she firmly said, “I’m not hungry.”

“That’s fine.”

From his tone, it seemed he was quite pleased. Li Xining immediately felt anxious. Sure enough, the next moment he grabbed her shoulders and pushed her face down onto the desk.

Li Xining was momentarily stunned and a bit frightened, and her voice started to shake. “I, I don’t want to be here.” 

Lu Yuling’s voice was laced with threats. “Call me husband.”

Li Xining had no choice but to comply, weakly saying, “Husband…”

Lu Yuling grinned. “Good girl, so obedient.”

But being obedient didn’t help; he still did as he pleased.
