It was six o’clock, and when the curtains were pulled, it was still not dark outside.

During the late summer and early autumn evenings, the sunlight was still there until seven or eight o’clock in the evening.

By the time it was all done, it was already dark outside the window.

Li Xining’s nose was always a bit red, and tears were still clinging to her flushed cheeks. As soon as he lay back on the bed, she turned away from him without a word.

Realising the girl was upset, Lu Yuling rushed to comfort her.

He wanted to wrap his arms around her, but as soon as his hand touched her waist, she snapped, “Don’t touch me!” Then she said angrily, “Beast!”

“Alright, I’m a beast.” Even though he replied like that, Lu Yuling didn’t pull his hand away. Instead, he hugged her. “I’m sorry for being a beast. I promise I won’t be a beast next time. This was a one-time thing.”

“Those are just excuses!” Li Xining’s voice was full cry. “None of you men are good. We can’t trust what you say in bed!”

Lu Yuling found her amusing and kept trying to soothe her. “Then I’ll willingly accept the punishment, okay? I’ll take whatever you do to me.”

Li Xining scoffed and replied coldly, “I won’t punish you. I’ll just go home soon and never come back!”

“Look at you. You’re always threatening to say you will go back to your parents’ house. I’m serious, Li Xining; if you pull this again, I’ll be really mad, and you will not be able to coax me easily.” Lu Yuling acted like a little princess.

Li Xining stood her ground. “Then go ahead and be mad; I couldn’t care less about you!”

Lu Yuling scoffed, mimicking Li Xining’s tone. “None of you women are any good. You just don’t know how to appreciate what you have!”

“So annoying!” Li Xining slapped her boyfriend’s chest before turning around.

Noticing that he made his girlfriend laugh, Lu Yuling let out a sigh of relief. “Alright, I’m annoying; I’m the most irritating person in the world.”

Li Xining replied, “Yes, you are.”

“Do you like annoying people?” Lu Yuling gazed at the person in his embrace with a loving smile.

Li Xining replied with a hint of arrogance, I don’t like you.”

Lu Yuling shot back. “You weren’t acting like this when you called me ‘husband’ just a moment ago.”

Li Xining felt a mix of anger and embarrassment. She raised her hand and slapped him again, blushing as she said, “Don’t bring that up!”

Lu Yuling teased. “You already called me that, but now you want me to forget it?”

“You made me say it, so it doesn’t count.”

Lu Yuling narrowed his eyes slightly. “Say that again?” His voice was coated with a treat.

After learning her lesson, Li Xining didn’t dare to say anything this time. “Hateful!” She muttered under her breath.

Just as she was about to turn over and face him again, Lu Yuling hugged her tightly with his arms and threatened her again, “Don’t move; be quiet.”

Li Xining immediately felt deflated. She stayed still, acting as a submissive little kitten.

With her attitude, Lu Yuling was pleased and repeated, “You can only obey me in bed, or else I’ll have to punish you.”

Li Xining stayed silent while pouting.

Seeing Li Xining didn’t talk back just now, Lu Yuling was happy. He reached out and gently pinched her chin, saying in a soft voice, “You did great today. I’ll get you a watch as a reward later.”

“No, it’s too pricey.”

He had already bought her a ring and a watch, which made her feel shy. Plus, his money didn’t just come from nowhere; it was earned from singing one song after another.

Lu Yuling understood her thoughts and replied, “It’s been a month since I bought it. How can I return it? Just wear it for fun.”

Li Xining shot him a look. “Wear it for fun? How can you be so wealthy?”

Lu Yuling confessed, “I’m broke. I have no money right now.”

He had a thousand yuan on his card, but he sent that to his girlfriend this morning so she could enjoy a fancy bath.

“You don’t save your salary and spend money like it’s nothing. You must be out of cash!” Li Xining rolled her eyes and sighed. “Oh, I was with you because you were foolish and rich. Now you’re broke, and you’re just a fool. I will never leave you, Lu Yuling. I truly love you.”

Lu Yuling held back a laugh and replied seriously, “Yes, true love, absolutely true love!”

Li Xining paused for a moment and stopped teasing him. Instead, she said, “I still have your money in my card. I’ll transfer it to you later.”

“What’s up with you today?” Lu Yuling was taken aback by those words.

Li Xining spoke honestly, “I eat your food, drink your drinks, wear your clothes, accept your gifts, and spend your money. I feel embarrassed.”

“What’s there to be embarrassed about?”

Li Xining looked up at him and muttered, “I feel like I’m being kept by you.”

Lu Yuling didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “What are you thinking? You’re my girl, so shouldn’t you eat my food, wear my clothes, and spend my money?”

‘We’re not a family yet, so I can’t use your money.’ With a shy face, she replied, “I’m not your wife yet…”

Lu Yuling got what she was saying and replied, “Isn’t it my wife who shares the same bed with me?”

Li Xining felt her cheeks heat up again. “Why are you so irritating?”

This time, Lu Yuling didn’t joke around; he said earnestly, “If I were on my own, I would not care about making money. But having a wife changes things. I can’t rely on my uncle’s money to take care of my wife, and I can’t let her go hungry. So I need to earn money. Li Xining, I’m making money now to spend on you, both now and in the future. You don’t need to worry about anything else. Just enjoy spending it without hesitation.”

Upon hearing such touching words, Li Xining gazed at him with slightly teary eyes. Then she wrapped her arms around his neck, lifted her chin, and kissed him on the cheek.

Lu Yuling raised his eyebrows and asked her, “Do you still dislike me?”

Li Xining shook her head. “I don’t dislike you anymore.” Then she confidently added. “I will raise your allowance!”

Lu Yuling: “By how much?”

Li Xining: “A hundred yuan increase.”

Lu Yuling feigned disappointment. “Only a hundred? Why not double it?”

Li Xining rolled her eyes at him and said, “With your reckless spending, the increase is already more than a hundred.”

Lu Yuling: “You just loved me, but now you despise me?”

Li Xining glared at him. “Yes, I just dislike you because you are annoying!”

Lu Yuling was unhappy. “Why do you hate me again? Didn’t you stop hating me?”

“Just now was just now; now is now.” After saying that, Li Xining pushed him and said, “I’m hungry now. Go get me something to eat!”

Lu Yuling smiled helplessly, stood up and replied, “Yes, Landlord’s Wife.”
