Chapter 60.2

There were five measurement rooms in total. After asking the assistant which room Chen Mengjin was in, Li Xining made her way there.

Several rooms were connected. This morning, there weren’t many clients around, and only Chen Mengjin was there, but she had gone to the innermost room.

As Li Xining got closer to the area, she saw that the door to the last examination room was closed, and two assistants, one male and one female, were standing by the door.

She had just stepped into the corridor when Chen Mengjin’s female assistant came up to her and blocked her path. Without missing a beat, she told her to leave, saying, “This isn’t a place for you. Go away now.”

Li Xining felt a bit irritated because the assistant was being way too rude, almost like she was trying to shoo away an outsider. So, she replied calmly and straightforwardly, “I am a student of Teacher Zhou, and I’m here to take Chen Mengjin’s measurements.”

The female assistant looked her up and down, her face clearly showing disdain, and she replied with annoyance, “Why didn’t Zhou Xiaolei come by herself?”

In the entire entertainment industry, not many female stars would dare to call Teacher Zhou by just his name. Li Xining felt a rush of anger because, after all, she was her teacher, and she couldn’t let anyone disrespect her in front of her. However, she didn’t want to confront this little assistant directly, as it would only embarrass Teacher Zhou. After thinking for a moment, she said, “Oh, last week Teacher Tang Hong asked Teacher Zhou to design a dress for her. Teacher Zhou is now revising the design draft for Teacher Tang. She is very busy and has no time to deal with these trivial matters.”

Tang Hong’s status was definitely ten streets ahead of Chen Mengjin. Li Xining also deliberately used contrasting words such as “Very busy”, and “small matter”. 

The point was to highlight the high status of Teacher Zhou. ‘Even Tang Hong has to give some face to Teacher Zhou, so what are you, a small actress?’

The female assistant got what Li Xining was saying. She felt annoyed but couldn’t express her frustration. After all, Tang Hong was quite influential. Still, she couldn’t just let this slide – Chen Mengjin usually brought in funds for the crew, and her family had connections. She held a significant position and wielded power within the crew, so wherever she went, the staff around her treated her team with respect, and no one dared to act tough like this little girl.

‘You don’t want to leave, huh? Then just stand here and see how long you can take it.’After a moment of thought, the female assistant scoffed. “Alright, you can just stand here and wait.” 

Li Xining got mad and actually stayed put, refusing to budge. ‘Oh, I’ll wait.’ She still couldn’t believe that Chen Mengjin would be stuck in the room forever. There was hardly anything in there. What could she possibly do alone? At most, she could make a call, which would only take a few minutes.

But just as she glanced down at her watch, a really unpleasant sound suddenly came from the innermost room.

The noise was sharp and enticing.

Li Xining froze, remembering that Chen Mengjin had come with Shen Siqi, and now she couldn’t see Shen Siqi anywhere.

‘These two aren’t in the side room…’ Just as she was starting to doubt, another really sound echoed.

‘Yes. They are. 

But… isn’t this a bit… inappropriate for this situation?’

Then Li Xining felt her face heat up, both embarrassed and furious. ‘This is their studio, not a hotel!’

At that moment, the female assistant shot her another glance, filled with mockery and sarcasm, as if to say: Aren’t you going to leave? Are you happy now?

Li Xining felt a mix of anger, helplessness, and frustration. She knew she couldn’t tell Teacher Zhou about this; otherwise, Teacher Zhou would be furious, and it would strain her relationship with her husband. Plus, she had no idea how to explain it to Teacher Zhou. It was just too hard to bring up!

Determined, Li Xining clenched her teeth and decided to leave. Thinking about her own experiences, she thought, it would take at least an hour. She couldn’t just stand there and endure that awful noise for an entire hour, could she?

She ignored the usual habits of the bed corner.

Dismissing the assistant’s mocking gaze, she turned and walked away.

Once back at her workstation, she had planned to keep copying the design draft. In over an hour, she could have completed several copies. But before she could finish even one, the female assistant approached her. 

With a tone that felt like she was delivering a royal decree, she told Li Xining to measure Chen Mengjin’s body. Then, she turned and walked off.

Li Xining was left feeling a bit bewildered – that was way too quick, right? She instinctively checked her watch. It had only been fifteen minutes since she returned.

‘Ten minutes?

What does that even mean?

It’s over before it even starts?’

Li Xining suddenly felt a strong urge to laugh, but she held it back, thinking it would be too embarrassing. Biting her tongue, she managed to suppress her laughter for a bit, then got up and headed to the physical examination room.

The innermost body room door finally creaked open, but just a little. 

Neither Chen Mengjin nor Shen Siqi emerged, and two assistants, one male and one female, were still standing at the door.

Chen Mengjin’s female assistant shot Li Xining another scornful glance as she asked, “What are you doing here so late? Why are you hesitating?”

Li Xining chose to ignore her this time and pushed open the testing room door. What she saw completely blew her mind. Chen Mengjin was only in a pair of black lace panties.

Thank goodness Shen Siqi was fully dressed; otherwise, Li Xining would have really needed to cleanse her eyes.

At that moment, Li Xining was at a loss for words. She stood there, holding her breath for a moment before finally saying, “You don’t need to strip down completely.”

Chen Mengjin didn’t mind at all. She turned to Li Xining with a smug expression and said, “I’m not a fan of the slings you provided.”

To ensure accurate measurements, the studio offered customers brand-new silk suspenders. Most people would wear them to maintain their modesty and spare the designer any awkwardness.

However, Chen Mengjin was clearly not your average person. She was bold and didn’t feel a hint of embarrassment at all.

Li Xining was unsure if Teacher Zhou had ever been in a situation like this, but for her, it was a first and super awkward. Measuring the body meant touching certain areas, and Chen Mengjin was completely naked. Wasn’t that pushing her limits?

Just when Li Xining felt lost, Shen Siqi suddenly told Chen Mengjin, “Put it on.” He was actually helping Li Xining out since he recognised the girl. They had crossed paths at Mr. Li’s birthday party during the Chinese New Year, and he knew she was Mr. Li’s granddaughter.

He had been smitten with her from the moment he laid eyes on her, but he never got the chance to talk to her.

He never thought he would run into her here today.

Shen Siqi’s spirits lifted instantly.

After hearing his words, Chen Mengjin didn’t immediately put on her clothes. Instead, she gazed at him with flirtatious eyes and said in a playful tone, “Why do you want me to get dressed? Don’t you want everyone to see my body?”

Shen Siqi chuckled, finding this silly girl amusing, and nodded, fulfilling her wish. “Yeah.”

Chen Mengjin then grabbed the suspenders from the stool, and muttered, “Alright, I’ll put them on then.”

Li Xining let out a sigh of relief right away, but she still didn’t step into the measurement room. Standing at the door, she told Shen Siqi, “This is the women’s measurement room, you should step outside and wait.”

Although Shen Siqi didn’t really want to go out, as he wanted to get closer to her, he wanted to listen to her. So without any hesitation, he agreed. “Okay.”

However, at this moment, Chen Mengjin suddenly said unhappily, “You stay. You can’t leave.” After that, she looked at Li Xining arrogantly, and said, “He is my boyfriend. I want him to stay.”

Li Xining thought. ‘You treat him as a boyfriend, but he may just treat you as a sex partner.’

It can be said that Shen Siqi is very resourceful and can always make girls obey him.

Such a scumbag!

Compared to him, Zhao Hailan didn’t seem that bad. At least he had always been sincere to Lu Yuling’s mother, but Shen Siqi had no sincerity at all.

No, Shen Siqi is Zhao Hailan’s nephew.

She sighed helplessly. She felt both disgusted and sympathetic towards Chen Mengjin. She also felt that she was really blind in the beginning to think of her as a goddess.

‘I will never chase stars again, never again!’

As soon as “Princess Chen” gave the order, Shen Siqi sat back on the corner of the table and said to her in a doting tone, “Okay, I’ll stay with you.”

Chen Mengjin raised the corners of her lips in satisfaction. Her expression was full of pride.

There was no other option; she had to work, so Li Xining started measuring Chen Mengjin’s body right in front of Shen Siqi.

As soon as the door shut, the room turned awkward, or at least it felt that way for Li Xining – she felt like the odd one out. Chen Mengjin was busy flirting with Shen Siqi, and some of their conversation was pretty personal, completely ignoring her presence as an outsider.

Li Xining had no choice but to act like she was invisible, working quietly and measuring Chen Mengjin’s body as fast as she could, eager to escape this uncomfortable situation.

Just when she was about to finish her measurements, Shen Siqi suddenly called out to her, “Li Xining?”

Li Xining froze; she never thought Shen Siqi would actually say her name. Ignoring him would be rude, but responding felt even worse since they weren’t acquainted. Plus, she knew all too well that Shen Siqi, the guy who seemed to fall for every girl, was probably just trying to hit on her.

Li Xining decided to just ignore him.

Chen Mengjin felt a twinge of jealousy at the mention of “Li Xining.” She noticed Shen Siqi stealing glances at this girl while talking to her. However, she didn’t let her jealousy show too much and casually asked him, “Do you two know each other?”

Li Xining and Shen Siqi both replied at the same time; one said: “I don’t know him,” while the other said: “I know her.”

This made Chen Mengjin laugh. She looked at Shen Siqi with a hint of gloating, and said arrogantly, “She said she didn’t know you.”

Shen Siqi didn’t feel embarrassed and replied naturally, “I’ve only met her once.”

Chen Mengjin chuckled. “You remember her so well after just one meeting?” She then looked down at Li Xining, who was measuring her calf, and playfully asked, “Do you have a boyfriend?”

Li Xining jotted down the measurements in her notebook before replying, “Yes.”

Shen Siqi couldn’t help but frown a bit, suddenly recalling the guy who had fought her cousin Zhao Cichu at Mr. Li’s birthday party. ‘What is his name again?’

At that moment, Chen Mengjin asked Li Xining again, “Are you and your boyfriend doing well?”

After finishing taking measurements, Li Xining stood up with the tape measure and notebook, and answered without a second thought, “Yeah, we’re good.” Then she added, “Really good.” She decided to stop the chit-chat and told Chen Mengjin, “You can get dressed now and go see Teacher Zhou.” With that, she left the measurement room.

After handing the data to Teacher Zhou, it was nearly noon by the time she got back to her desk.

Li Xining’s desk was in the admin department.

As soon as she settled in, her female colleague next to her said, “Xining, your boyfriend is here with food for you. He’s waiting in the lounge.”

Zhou Xiaolei also knew that Lu Yuling was her apprentice’s boyfriend, so she made an exception and let him into the company area for her apprentice’s sake.

Li Xining smiled and said, “Oh.”

The female colleague, already in her twenties, couldn’t help but feel a bit envious. “Your boyfriend treats you so well. He brings you food every day. Back in college, I was the one taking food to my boyfriend.”
