Chapter 60.3

Whenever Li Xining came to work, Lu Yuling would come back to bring her lunch.

The lunch break started at twelve o’clock, and as soon as the time came, Li Xining ran to the lounge.

Lu Yuling had been waiting for her for a long time, and there were several insulated lunch boxes on the table in front of him.

He always prepared meals at home, brought them to her, and then shared lunch together.

As soon as Li Xining entered the lounge, she asked, “What did you do today?”

Lu Yuling responded while opening the lunch box. “Your favourite dish.”

When the first lunch box was opened, Li Xining spotted a full box of braised pork and couldn’t help but exclaim. “Wow!”

Lu Yuling found it amusing and proceeded to open the other four lunch boxes one by one. One had stir-fried beans, another had stir-fried cauliflower, one contained sweet corn soup, and the last, a larger round lunch box, held rice.

He then took out two small bowls and two sets of utensils from the bag. He first served a bowl of rice to Li Xining and then served himself.

Li Xining picked up a piece of braised pork first, but instead of eating it, she placed it in Lu Yuling’s bowl and whispered, “Hubby, you eat first.”

The term “husband” startled Lu Yuling. He looked at Li Xining, flattered, and could barely speak. “What’s going on with you today?”

Li Xining hesitated for a moment, trying to hold back, but ultimately couldn’t resist and whispered to Lu Yuling in a low, conspiratorial tone, “Shen Siqi can only do ten minutes! Maybe even less than that!”

Lu Yuling was initially taken aback and didn’t grasp the meaning right away. But when he understood it the next moment, he exploded. “How do you know he can only do ten minutes?!”

Li Xining quickly covered her mouth and whispered, “Keep it down! They’re still here!” She then hurriedly explained how she found out and seriously warned him, “I’m telling you this because I trust you to keep it to yourself. “Don’t tell anyone else.”

She needed to share this juicy gossip with someone, or she’d burst. But after some thought, it seemed like only Lu Yuling was the right person to confide in, not Xu Dongruo, who was a gossip lover. Lu Yuling, on the other hand, was different. He had no interest in gossip and could keep a secret. He was the perfect person to share gossip with, ensuring that what went in stayed in.

After hearing this, Lu Yuling chuckled. “Li Xining, how can you still call me vulgar? I don’t eavesdrop or keep track of others’ conversations.”

Li Xining felt her cheeks heat up and protested, “No, I didn’t! I just happened to check my watch a couple of times.”

Lu Yuling teased. “You really have a knack for timing. You look once when someone starts and again when they finish.”

“It’s just a coincidence!” Li Xining shot him a glare. “Gross!”

Lu Yuling replied shyly, “You might hate me, but after comparing it with others in ten minutes, won’t you find mine better?”

Li Xining felt a mix of anger and embarrassment to continue the topic. “Shut up! Just eat!” After that, she ignored him and went back to her meal.

But just as they were halfway through, a guy suddenly walked into the lounge holding a big bouquet of roses.

Li Xining looked up and recognised Shen Siqi’s male assistant.

That person completely ignored Lu Yuling and walked directly to Li Xining. “You are Miss Li, right? These are flowers sent to you by our boss.”

Looking at the assistant’s skilled look, anyone could tell that he had done this many times before.

Lu Yuling’s face turned blue with anger. ‘Flirting with my wife right in front of me? ‘Am I dead?’

However, just when he was about to explode, Li Xining suddenly held his legs and muttered to him. “I’ll take care of it!”

For the sake of his wife, Lu Yuling temporarily suppressed his anger.

Li Xining first asked the assistant, “Did your boss leave with his girlfriend?”

If Chen Mengjin hadn’t left yet and Shen Siqi had asked his assistant to send her flowers, he would be a real scumbag.

The male assistant quickly replied, “Gone.”

Li Xining felt a little regretful.  “Alas, I wanted to throw the flowers on his face, but now I don’t have the chance.”

Upon hearing that, the male assistant was a little embarrassed. “Well, how about you take the flowers first? Otherwise, I won’t be able to explain to the boss.”

Li Xining was not going to fall for his tricks at all. “If you are worried about having to explain yourself, there is a trash can at the entrance of the company. You can just throw the flowers away when you leave.”

The male assistant was still unwilling to give up. “Just accept it. It’s just a bouquet of flowers. A small token of our boss’s appreciation.”

Li Xining had no choice but to use her trump card. “I’m telling you, if you don’t leave, I’ll let my boyfriend deal with you. Once he does, you’ll have no choice but to leave today.”

The male assistant subconsciously looked at the young man sitting next to the girl.

Lu Yuling had been suppressing his temper. His face was gloomy and his eyes were sharp, and it was obvious that he was someone who was not easy to mess with.

“Get out of here right now.” Lu Yuling spoke lightly and indifferently but with great intimidation and threat.

The male assistant was a little timid. At that moment he had no doubt that he would really be beaten if he stayed anymore, so he quickly said, “Sorry to bother you.” Then he left with the flowers.

The lounge finally returned to peace.

But Li Xining was still angry. “How annoying!”

Lu Yuling was really mad. ‘Why did Shen Siqi have to think about my wife when he could think about anyone else? And he even had someone send flowers to my wife right in front of me? Isn’t that just pathetic!’

If he ever got the chance, he would definitely teach that jerk a lesson.

But at that moment, Li Xinging suddenly turned to him, looking both angry and confused. “Lu Yuling, what do you think Shen Siqi is thinking? He only took ten minutes, and he has the nerve to act like such a jerk? What do those women see in him? Is it because he’s a jerk? Because he’s evil? Because he’s short on time?”

That question really stumped Lu Yuling.

Then, Li Xining asked again, still angry and confused. “Where does he get the confidence to send me flowers? Am I an idiot? How could I possibly like him? My boyfriend is taller, more handsome, and more talented and has a better character than him, plus he can last way longer! Why would I give up an hour with you just to ask him for ten minutes? What’s he even thinking?”

Upon hearing that, Lu Yuling almost burst out laughing, but seeing Li Xingin was serious, he held it back. “So what do you think he thinks?”

“I think he looks down on me!” Then she firmly stated, “Anyway, I definitely don’t look down on a jerk like him who can only last ten minutes!”

This time, Lu Yuling couldn’t help but chuckle. “Li Xining, I can see that you’ve changed.”

Li Xining asked, “How have I changed?”

Lu Yuling spoke honestly. “You’re driving faster and faster; soon I won’t be able to keep up with you.”

Li Xining got what she meant; her face flushed again, and she slapped him. “Hateful!”

Lu Yuling: “I’m tall, handsome, talented, and have a good character. The best part is I still have plenty of time. How dare you hate me? If you keep this up, I’ll get mad. It’s not easy to calm down.”

‘Show off!’ Li Xining snapped back angrily, “Go ahead and be mad!” Then she repeated, “You’re just annoying!”

This time, Lu Yuling didn’t argue with her and gently coaxed, “Alright, alright. “Let’s eat quickly; the food will get cold soon.”

Only then did Li Xining start eating again.

Thanks to the jerk Shen Siqi, she was so upset that she ended up eating an extra bowl of rice at lunch today.

After the meal, Lu Yuling took the empty lunch box and said he would pick her up after work in the evening to drive her to university.

Since she needs to stay on campus now, Li Xining had to bring a lot of stuff back to school.

Her suitcase was right under her workstation.
