You hidden in my heart - Chapter 61.1

Chapter 61.1
Although Li Xining accepted Zhao Hailan’s WeChat friend verification, he hadn’t sent her any message. She was also too lazy to pay attention to him, so even if they became friends, they were just dead friends on the list.
So Li Xining had forgotten about the matter within a few days.
University life was totally different from school life. Not like in school, students would have more freedom, but students have to engage in more self-learning.
Compared with seniors, freshmen had fewer professional courses and more public courses, and the classrooms were not fixed. So, freshmen always needed to run around the university with a backpack.
Xifu University was pretty big. Sometimes, it could take over ten minutes to walk from one building to another. To save some time, a lot of students would use electric vehicles.
Li Xining also got one – an electric motorcycle, and it was a super cool fiery red.
Even though she and Xu Dongruo weren’t roommates, they still met up every day.
At Xifu University, freshmen had to engage in morning exercises, and afterwards, they went to the cafeteria together for breakfast. After that, Li Xining would take her friends to her class on the red electric motorcycle, and at noon, they rode back to the cafeteria for lunch together.
After the last class in the afternoon, Li Xining gave the keys to the electric bike to Xu Dongruo and rushed off to find Lu Yuling.
Lu Yuling was still sticking to his routine of playing basketball and running. On the first day of school, the captain of the senior men’s basketball team spotted him and eagerly invited him to join the college basketball team.
Lu Yuling was a big fan of basketball, and after hearing the details, he thought it sounded awesome and decided to join.
The basketball team practiced every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Each practice was pretty intense. First, they ran ten laps around the 400-meter track, and then they gathered on the court for some serious training.
Including Lu Yuling, the basketball team had five new freshmen. On the first day of practice, the older players were waiting to see the younger guys struggle, but they weren’t completely wiped out. After ten laps, Lu Yuling was still doing fine, unlike the other four new players who were worn out before they even finished seven laps.
If nothing else was going on, Li Xining would definitely head to the basketball court to watch Lu Yuling practice.
The basketball team uniform at the music conservatory was black and gold. Lu Yuling was quite the looker and had a great physique. With his commanding presence, he resembled a king in that black jersey.
Li Xining couldn’t help but admit that she was totally captivated by Lu Yuling’s gameplay, much like a young girl who idolises her favourite star. There were times when she forgot she was his girlfriend and just got lost in admiration for him; when she finally snapped back to reality, she remembered he was her boyfriend, and it made her feel a bit shy.
‘I’m even more worried that someone else might take him away.’
Honestly, she never used to worry about that until Teacher Zhou asked her if she wanted to study abroad.
Every afternoon during basketball practice, a group of little girls gathers around the court to cheer for their idol.
Boys normally were pretty careless. When they started sweating during a game, they instinctively would pull up their jersey collar to wipe their face and head. Lu Yuling was no exception.
One Friday afternoon, the basketball team was practising. He was soaked in sweat after giving it his all. After a series of drills, he lifted his collar to wipe his face, just like everyone else.
As he raised the neckline, the hem of his shirt also went up, exposing several well-defined abs, which instantly triggered a wave of cheers from the group of little girls.
Li Xining’s good mood took a nosedive. ‘That annoying guy dares to attract all kinds of attention!’
As autumn rolled in, the sun set earlier, and by the time he finished his training, it was almost dark. Even though Li Xining felt annoyed, she still waited for him.
Normally, as soon as Lu Yuling wrapped up his training, Li Xining would rush over with the water bottles, but today was different. She sat in the stands outside the stadium, cold and distant, just waiting for him to come to her.
When he finally approached, she didn’t say anything, just shot him a serious glare.
Lu Yuling recognised that look all too well and sighed, “What’s going on? Just spill it, and I’ll fix it.”
Li Xining wanted to say, “I can’t stand you!” But his sigh made her feel like he was fed up with her as if she was just a burden and exhausting for him.
She had become super sensitive, always reading too much into his feelings and reactions; now she was cautious, worried that he might actually be annoyed with her.
It felt like she was tiptoeing on a narrow bridge, unsure of her next move.
She felt like she couldn’t walk away from him.
If only going abroad wasn’t an option, she wouldn’t have to stress about it.
Biting her lower lip, she forced herself to change the words “I hate you” that were about to spill out into, “It’s okay.”
But it didn’t seem like everything was fine. Lu Yuling wanted to ask her what was bothering her, but Li Xining stood up from the stool, cutting him off. She simply said, “Let’s go.”
Lu Yuling frowned. Lately, he could definitely sense that something was off with her. She wasn’t as free-spirited with him as she used to be. This freedom wasn’t a bad thing, but rather a good thing in terms of feelings.
She was holding back on purpose as if something was stifling her emotions. Whenever she felt like expressing her feelings to him, this thing would pop up and cut her off without any reason.
Just like today, just like right now.
He hadn’t heard her say the word “hate you” in ages.
She was keeping something from him.
He had asked her multiple times if there was anything she hadn’t shared, and she always insisted that there wasn’t.
Have a nice day!
