You hidden in my heart - Chapter 64.1

Chapter 64.1
Her mother had got to know about her Friday schedule, so she went home every Friday for several weeks. Plus, Lu Yuling had been swamped getting ready for the rematch lately, and the recording for the show was always set for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Because of that they hardly get a chance to hang out together.
The semi-finals were lined up for early April. On the day the first round of semi-finals started recording, the show “Sounds into the Ears” would officially air on Xifu Satellite TV at 8 pm. There would be a total of twelve episodes. The first eleven episodes were edited and shown, while the final episode would be broadcast live. This whole thing lasted three months, and the finals just happened to coincide with the summer season.
The four mentors in the show were big shots in the music industry.
The production team also came up with a fresh way to choose mentors. Unlike before, mentors didn’t pick students, and students didn’t pick mentors. Instead, students would draw lots to see which mentor they would be paired with.
The programming team set up a special opaque box filled with 80 small balls in different colors, split into four colours: red, yellow, blue, and green, with 20 balls of each colour. Each colour ball represented a mentor.
Before picking the lots, the programme group interviewed the contestants to make things exciting.
If someone would say, “All four teachers are amazing, and they’re all ideal mentors,” the program team wouldn’t let that slide easily. The host would push them to name their top choice, or else they wouldn’t be allowed to draw lots.
When the contestants were drawing lots, the mentors would be in another room watching the live stream and taking notes at the same time. While they were watching, they would also comment on the contestants and say if they were interested in taking on that student.
The eighty contestants would draw lots based on their scores from the preliminary round.
Lu Yuling, who got the highest score, got the first chance.
The programme group already had their eyes on a few contestants who were likely to shine in the future, and Lu Yuling was one of them. Therefore, the host made sure to highlight him.
When Lu Yuling walked into the camera, the host asked him many gossip questions, “such as how old is he this year? Where did he go to school? Does he have any performance experience before?” The only thing he didn’t ask him was about his love life. The station leaders had already instructed not to ask contestants questions about their relationships.
“You are so handsome and talented, do you have a lot of girls chasing after you?”
Lu Yuling shook his head and replied with a smile, “Not much. I have a girlfriend, the kind we want to get married to.”
Lu Yuling had his own plans and he wanted to become a singer with his own strength. He didn’t want to become just a star with traffic. Therefore, from the beginning, he didn’t want to hide his relationship. He wanted his fans to accept his relationship as well.
However, this conversation was deleted later.
“Who is your ideal mentor?” The host changed the subject.
Lu Yuling knew the routine of the programme team – if he couldn’t name a specific mentor today, the programme team would definitely not let him go, so he didn’t hesitate or answer tactfully, “Teacher Zhao Ge.”
Finally the host let him draw the lot. “You are the first person to draw the lot today. I wish you a successful start and all your wishes come true.”
Lu Yuling drew the lots and it was the red coloured ball he got.
Red coloured represented Zhao Ge.
It could be said that Lu Yuling was really lucky, and it was a great start for him.
The drawings of lots happened after the preliminary round and wasn’t part of the semi-final. So after the contestants picked up the mentors, they had to work with their mentors the following week to get ready for the semi-finals.
The semi-finals were set up as two-on-two PK matches. Initially, there was a PK within the group, where the instructor decided who would stay or go.
The decision to stay or leave during the group PK was no longer up to the mentors; it was made by a professional panel of 50 senior musicians and managers, along with 500 audience members. The professional panel had one vote worth five points, while the audience’s vote counted as one point.
The first round of the rematch was an intra-group PK, starting with a match between Zhao Ge’s team.
Have a nice day!
