Chapter 64.3

They finished dinner, and Lu Yuling went to the nearby pharmacy to buy a box of throat medicine for Li Xining, before heading back home.

In April, the weather was getting hot, so as soon as they got home, Li Xining took a shower first.

Later when Lu Yuling was in the bathroom, Li Xining, who was lying on the bed, checked Weibo.

The first in the hot search there was: [handsome young man].

Curiously she clicked on the link and found that it was a video of Lu Yuling wearing a white shirt and sitting in front of the piano playing and singing “Thousands of Songs”.

The video was posted on the official Weibo account of the program “Sounds into Ears”. There were already over 10,000 comments on this video, and most of them were full of compliments.

“…” Li Xining couldn’t exactly guess who pushed this trending search to the top of the list. 

‘Is it the program team? Or Zhao Hailan? Or Lu Yuling’s uncle?’ But as long as it was for Lu Yuling’s development, she could accept it. Seeing that the comments were all praising Lu Yuling, she felt as though she was being praised, and she kept smiling, almost reading the comments from beginning to end.

When Lu Yuling came back to the bedroom after his shower, Li Xining was still smiling at her phone.

“What are you looking at?” he asked as he climbed onto the bed and wrapped his arms around Li Xining.

Li Xining rested his head on Lu Yuling’s arm, holding the phone up excitedly, “Check it out, you’re trending! Number one!”

With a raised eyebrow, Lu Yuling grabbed her phone and confirmed that he was indeed trending.

This was the first time he had made it to the hot search, and it was a positive one. In such a situation, most people would be surprised and thrilled; Lu Yuling was no exception. He felt a bit surreal as if the person in the video wasn’t really him. And he was genuinely happy. The feeling of inching closer to his dream was even more exhilarating than dreaming itself.

However, he wasn’t so overwhelmed that he lost his cool, but Li Xining was so thrilled that she completely lost it. She flipped over, wrapped her arms around him tightly, and showered him with kisses. She started with his eyebrows, then the corners of his eyes, the bridge of his nose, and finally his lips. In the end, she took the lead and kissed him.

After the kiss, she gazed at him with intense eyes, and said in a bossy voice, “You belong to me! Okay!”

Lu Yuling held her waist firmly, and muttered, “Yeah, I’m yours.”

Li Xining: “It’s mine!”

He embraced her and rolled over, whispering in her ear with a heated voice, “I’m yours, completely yours.”

That night was so long.

Her voice was still a bit raspy, but it sounded like beautiful music to him.

The next day, Lu Yuling had to go to the TV station to record a show, while Li Xining had to head to work for Teacher Zhou. 

He dropped her off at the entrance of the company before heading to the studio.

When Li Xining arrived at the studio, a group of colleagues rushed over to ask her about Lu Yuling. She couldn’t help but think, ‘Wow, he really is famous. People recognize him everywhere.’

But she didn’t just give her colleagues vague responses; she answered all the questions she could.

After all her colleagues had left, she finally had a chance to focus on her own work.

She had been learning from Teacher Zhou for nearly a year now, and she had mastered the basic steps of designing.

After about six months, she would be going abroad and there were a handful of things: preparing a lot of material and assignments, and preparing the portfolio to do before that. 

She started working on her portfolio two months ago.

Next month, she had planned to take the IELTS exam and pass it on her first attempt. Otherwise, it would delay her plans. 

She spent the whole day perfecting her design. Once she finalised it, she would go shopping for materials the next day, then move on to making patterns, sewing, and cutting… before it would go through countless revisions.

Every beautiful piece of clothing was a reflection of the designer’s commitment.

When it was almost nine o’clock in the evening, Li Xining’s mother called her asking when she would come home. Only at that time, did she realise it was already dark outside. 

Later on, her mom came to pick her up, and she fell asleep almost right away after getting into the car.

Yu Wenyin knew her daughter had been really tired lately, so she didn’t wake her while she was resting. She only gently nudged her awake when she backed the car into the garage.

Li Xining felt like she had just shut her eyes, but when she opened them, she was surprised to see they were home. As she unbuckled her seatbelt and prepared to get out of the car, Yu Wenyin suddenly said, “Oh, by the way, Zhao Hailan is here.”

Li Xining instantly perked up. “What’s he doing here?”

Yu Wenyin answered, “What else? He’s here for his son.”

Li Xining frowned, feeling uneasy. “What does he want now?” she muttered. 

Yu Wenyin clarified. “He wanted to sign Yu Ling, but Yu Ling didn’t want to sign with Zhengxing. So he came looking for someone to persuade him.”

Li Xining suddenly got really mad and said firmly, “I won’t persuade him. He has his own thoughts and plans. If he doesn’t want to sign with Zhengxing, then that’s his choice. Why should Zhao Hailan get involved? Plus, there are so many companies that want to sign him. Why does it have to be Zhengxing?

Upon hearing her daughter’s words, Yu Wenyin paused for a second, then finally shared a pretty realistic thought. “Even though Zhao Hailan isn’t exactly a good man, he would never turn his back on his son, especially since he feels guilty about Lu Rongyue. So, when you compare it to other entertainment companies, Zhengxing is definitely the best fit for Yuling which will help to climb on the ladder.”

Li Xining: “…”

Looking at her daughter’s frowning face, she continued. “When you look at all the entertainment companies out there, which artist actually gets to pick their own resources and work schedules? Aren’t they all just controlled by the company? Those with connections have it easier, but those without might end up just being used for drinking and sleeping arrangements. Plus, newcomers often don’t know the ropes and can easily get overshadowed and held back. But if Yuling joined Zhao Hailan’s company, he would absolutely have the freedom to choose for himself. Zhao Hailan would provide him with the top resources, the most freedom, and the best protection.”
