You hidden in my heart - Chapter 65.1

Chapter 65.1
Pondering for a while, Li Xining realised her mother’s words made sense.
She wanted him to become a superstar in the entertainment industry but she never thought about the obstacles that could occur.
Seeing her daughter was in a dilemma, Yu Wenyin sighed and replied, “I get what you’re thinking. You want to honour his decision. You believe he can make it without Zhao Hailan, but the entertainment industry is a huge melting pot filled with all sorts of people. When a newcomer steps into the scene, they might get some love from the veterans, but they can also face jealousy or opposition from those same veterans or their peers. Some folks just can’t handle it if someone is doing better than them, or they might feel like that person is taking away their opportunities. So they’ll do whatever they can to trip that person. No matter how strong someone is, they can’t go against the whole industry’s rules alone. If he wants to establish himself quickly, he needs a solid supporter. What’s that saying? It’s nice to have shade under a big tree, and Zhao Hailan could be that support for him.”
Li Xining still couldn’t wrap her head around Zhao Hailan. “He has his uncle, and his uncle will definitely make sure he’s not pushed around by anyone,” she muttered with a pout.
This time, Yu Wenyin made it clearer. “No matter how powerful Lu Rongxing is, he won’t have the same standing in this circle as Zhao Hailan. Although Lu Rongxing is a businessman, he doesn’t understand the rules of the entertainment industry like Zhao Hailan does. For example, if you’re aiming to succeed in the entertainment industry, I’ll support you as much as I can, but I can only exchange the resources I have for others. Like, if you want to get the lead role in a movie, I’ll invest in the film to help you secure that role, but if the production company isn’t interested in my money or has better options, I can’t really help you. Zhao Hailan, however, can definitely make it happen because he’s a resource allocator and has a handle on half of the entertainment industry. Whatever Lu Yuling needs in the future, he can provide without having to negotiate like I do. Understand?”
The truth was so clear that Li Xining couldn’t possibly overlook it. She fell silent again.
Yu Wenyin took a moment and then added. “Let me give you a realistic example. The forest is full of all kinds of birds. The entertainment industry is overflowing with attractive guys and gals, and there are plenty of wolves watching them. It’s not just male bosses who are after female artists; there are female bosses who are interested in male artists and even some creepy male bosses who are into male artists. Do you really think that with Yu Ling’s personality, he would be comfortable with the company setting him up to hang out with the big boss in the future?”
Li Xining felt a surge of anxiety and exclaimed, “No way! Even if he agrees, I definitely don’t agree!”
“Okay, imagine you’re running an entertainment company, and you arranged for an artist to go to a game to compete for resources with other firms, but the artist isn’t interested in going. Would that be fine with you?”
Li Xining didn’t want to back off. “I can’t force them to go if they don’t want to. That’s like making a decent woman turn to prostitution!”
Yu Wenyin: “Yes! But there are always people willing to go along with it. Do you think bosses prefer those who follow instructions or those who don’t? The obey ones are easier to manage and help them earn money. So why would bosses put money into those who resist? Do they want to encourage rebellion? Plus, there are plenty of folks in the industry ready to play the game.”
Li Xining: “…”
Yu Wenyin went on. “If Yu Ling were to join another company, the boss might be more forgiving because of his uncle, but he’d still have his opinions about him. On the other hand, if he were with Zhao Hailan’s company, it would be a whole different situation, as Zhao Hailan would never let his son be in a position to compromise himself. He can only concentrate on his career at Zhengxing without any distractions. Look at Shen Siqi, for instance. Has he had an easy path since he began? The resources he’s received are top-notch. Among his peers, who have outperformed him? Who dares to challenge him for resources? Why? Because his uncle is Zhao Hailan.”
Li Xining, who was already annoyed, became frustrated after hearing Shen Siqi’s name. “Don’t mention Shen Siqi! He drives me crazy!”
Yu Wenyin: “Oh, didn’t you totally love him last year?”
Li Xining sighed and muttered, “Everyone has their weak moments.”
“Okay, let’s change the subject and talk about your boyfriend instead. A person’s success depends on three things: strength, luck, and the right opportunity. Yu Ling has both strength and good luck and now he just needs that perfect chance to take off. If he were to join other companies, they wouldn’t just hand over the best resources to a newbie, but Zhao Hailan can. Only Zhao Hailan is ready to back his son completely and create that opportunity. Other companies have their own interests and will try to get back what they spent on training a newcomer, using him just to make a profit, but Zhao Hailan would never treat his son like that.”
Li Xining understood the reality of it all, but she still felt a heaviness in her heart. “I feel like I’m tricking Lu Yuling.”
Yu Wenyin looked puzzled. “Why do you think you’re tricking him?”
Li Xining clarified, “If Lu Yuling found out that Zhao Hailan is his dad, he would definitely refuse to sign with Zhengxing, and it could really mess up his relationship with Zhao Hailan. I knew the truth but still pushed him to sign with Zhengxing. Isn’t that misleading him? If he finds out later, he will be heartbroken, and he might even blame me. I don’t want him to feel that way, and I definitely don’t want him to hate me…”
Upon hearing such words, Yu Wenyin finally understood her daughter’s concerns. After thinking it over, she said, “Zhao Hailan probably knows that if Yuling discovers he’s his biological father, he’ll definitely resent him, so he’s too afraid to say anything. Since he’s keeping quiet, we shouldn’t bring it up with Yuling either.”
Li Xining: “Are you really planning to keep this from him?”
Yu Wenyin answered, “What other options do we have?”
Li Xining: “I think he deserves to know. We should be upfront with him first, then let him decide if he wants to sign with Zhengxing. Otherwise, it feels like we’re misleading him.”
“He has the right to know, but not just yet. He still needs Zhao Hailan in his life at this moment.” After a pause, she added, “It’s normal for a young person to depend on a strong figure until they can stand on their own. Instead of letting him fall apart and choose a rival company out of anger, it’s better to keep this under wraps for now. When he’s ready to carve out his own path, we can reveal the truth then.”
Li Xining replied, “Isn’t that like killing the donkey after it’s done its job?”
Yu Wenyin responded, “He will not even realise the donkey is his real dad. Plus, the donkey was fine with being sacrificed. Why are you so concerned about the donkey?
Li Xining: “…”
Yu Wenyin: “Now that Yu Ling is all in on pursuing his dream, we should definitely support him without getting caught up in too many outside distractions. Sure, the world can be a bit tricky, but it’s not impossible. It really boils down to the choices you make.”
“Do Grandpa and Grandma feel the same way?” Li Xining bit her lower lip and asked with a heavy heart.
Yu Wenyin responded, “The old couple has always wanted the Zhao family to back Yuling. Otherwise, why would they have shared the truth with them? When Zhao Hailan brought this up to Grandpa and Grandma earlier, they didn’t refuse. They said they’d wait for you to come back and discuss it. But eventually, you never came back, and Zhao Hailan just stayed there.”
Li Xining inquired, “What are they doing now?”
Yu Wenyin replied, “They’re just rewatching last night’s show.”
Have a nice day!
